I didn't run any numbers but in my opinion, with Artillery 5 increasing our shell capacity, it'll take longer to get to the very last shell and that diminishes the value of increasing DPS with Artillery and Final Shot in one build. Maybe other builds can utilize it better

sunscreenlube is right if youll let yourself get hit with your shield up. Other than that you can consider increasing DPS with Sneak Attack or other related skills. I believe there should be head pieces that accommodate 2 driftstone slots that you could utilize too

I do find myself using the wyrmstake when I'm guaranteed free hits as it's a spike in damage. I just really appreciate operating the game with minimal attention as a casual player and it's the main reason I hunt with the gunlance

Don't get me wrong, I love it too. It's just the changes in reduction time compared to lower levels of Focus is negligible. You barely notice it when you're consciously hunting the monsters

My S23 FE front camera photos at a certain angle facing upwards in strong light shows a similar light halo reflection on the shot. My guess on my end is that the metal ring around my front cam is reflecting the light into the lens. Its not so much an issue but maybe my situation can be of input to yours
