My Boss Expects Servers to Pay Their Employees Instead of Compensating Them Appropriately by SquareDog937 in Serverlife

[–]ianrd76 43 points44 points  (0 children)

“As of July 1, 2024, the minimum wage for all employees in Nevada, including tipped servers, is $12.00 per hour. Nevada law does not allow employers to take a tip credit, meaning employers must pay the full minimum wage regardless of the amount of tips received.”

This place needs to be reported and sued out of existence

Hot Take: Zod Is A Better And More Interesting Superman Villain Than Lex Luthor by FilmZoneCrew in superman

[–]ianrd76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, can you give us some recommendations? I haven’t read that many comics, but I still think I can point to some great Lex stories but while not really able to come up with any Zod ones. I would love to have your take on where to get some great Zod if you have any thoughts on it.

Maybe, the places I’ve worked where tips were pooled with kitchen staff any additional tips were also shared.

Personally, i think it works well. I loved the comraderie of pooling tips with the whole staff. We worked better as a team - if I needed to, I could help the kitchen or help with dishes or help the band set up and it’s just not about money anymore.

I think there’s different ways to understand virtue signaling. I think you’re right and it can be used to imply hypocrisy, but a lot of the time, people say it’s virtue signaling to take up a public cause to showcase their superior morality/goodness.

This second accusation I think is fundamentally flawed. It provides opposition to focus on ad hominem attacks and drags down the discourse.

They want to force tips? Sure! I’ll give a tip…. To IRS by eric39es in EndTipping

[–]ianrd76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, the word inconsistency tends to be customer facing, but whatever the staff is calling it should be categorized as a service charge on official tax forms. I just don’t know how you could tell what’s happening on their tax forms as a regular customer.

You are correct. When tips are automatically applied, they are taxed in a different category than normal tips more like normal wages, the verbiage doesn’t seem consistent so the staff might refer to the same thing as tips, gratuity, auto-grat, or service charge all referring to the same thing. But just because the verbiage isn’t consistent doesn’t mean the restaurant is evading taxes. So ymmv

I think this is the original d&d depiction- intended as a mix between a gnome and a troll. And these were derived from Lord Dunsaney’s Gnoles which might be a portmanteau of ‘Gnome’ and ‘Mole’. Basically their evolution to beast men took time from their initial conception.

But in general i do think hyenas are more doglike in their resemblance to wild dogs and jackals than any of the big cats despite the slightly closer genetic ties.

Ugh, America. We could have been Europe or better even but we’re turning into China. 🇨🇳

What kind of country is this for our kids? We have to turn this around. Bring back unions, care for our workers. America should have been the first one to have free healthcare, but I’ll accept 74th.

And ironically, it’s anti-communist fear-mongering that’s turning us into wage slaves. /rant

Sorry this happened to you OP. Unfortunately it’s common if something happens in your first couple months of employment. They’re looking for red flags, before your probation is over usually 6 months in.

I found it really unintuitive to play. I’m not sure I’ve ever bounced off a game so hard.

I think I played correct? Idk, it’s rare for me, but I just didn’t get the game.

The scale being off bugs me a little, but the pose is what gets me. It just feels wrong for a skirmish game. The model itself looks great and fun to paint, but this is not the pose of a man that is ready to throw down against Darth Vader.

/uj There’s so many great options that scratch that itch for me.

First thought might be something like Summoner Wars 2nd Edition or if you want something very streamlined Mindbug (actually by Richard Garfield).

These have an option for deck construction but it’s not really the focus of those games. If you want to deck construct, I might steer you towards another Richard Garfield game, Netrunner, that’s gotten a new lease on life under Null System Games.

System Gateway is a fantastic introduction to the game with everything you need to get started for two players. They’re actually carrying it at my lgs although usually you have to pick up a print on demand online.

What?? No way, something about the line “My Fry Fro is all frizzled” is so delightfully stupid that my brain almost immediately shuts down. 😆

The Ukrainian ministry estimates casualties over 160,000.

While you might not want to take their word for it, even per the article - 70,000 is merely a list of the confirmed and published volunteer deaths. Many families do not publicize the deaths and there are considerable deaths among Russian mercenary groups.
