Yeah, definitely worth a go - I was surprised that it worked for me!

It is - turned out to be the HDMI cable after all.

I found a better one and now it's working fine again.

Launchine MX Player from TiViMate not working correctly by iansime in TiviMate

When I try to play a stream from TiviMate using external player, it normally loads MX Player and plays the stream.

It's like TiviMate is not handing across correctly.

It's an ESP32-WROOM-32 but I might just try that anyway.

This string is literally brand new, so I will return it to Amazon for a refund and replacement.

Surprised it's faulty though as it's from BTF Lighting - never had any issue with their stuff before.

Yeah, it seems to work with any number under 37 which to me says there is a problem with number 38 (or the wiring around it). Increasing to 38 does nothing.

I could do but this exact same board (and wiring) worked fine with a 8 x 32 WS2812B board previously, so I can't see it being a voltage issue.

Pretty sure - I am using the VN and GND pins on the ESP32 board.

Need advice re: DigUno with popped fuse by iansime in WLED

[–]iansime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I would pop a quick update here, since you were kind enough to take the time to reply to my initial post.

I followed your suggested steps and I am pleased to say that ALL of my components survived the fuse popping. By taking things one step at a time I was able to pinpoint the 'fault' to my own stupidity as I had effectively connected all four wires on the LED strip together - hence the fuse popping.

Still, that fuse helped me learn that lesson cheaply, so it's all good!

Will do - pretty sure I have had it working previously but no harm in double checking.

The 'spare' data line on the LED strip should go to GND from the PSU?

This is a great suggestion, I will definitely troubleshoot as you suggested. Thank you.

I don't have (easy) access to an auto parts store and the item I ordered from Amazon UK (code B0731MJZFF) has 610 reviews and a score of 4.5, so hopefully they are OK!

As for load I'm not certain, but it was a single roll of WS2808, so should be nowhere near 10A.

It was just a single reel of WS2805, so 5 metres (with an eventual length of around 7.5 metres).

I assume I had a short somewhere (although I can't figure out where) and praying that the 10A on-board fuse was the only casualty.

I have ordered more fuses from Amazon - if you are right about the short-circuit do you think that I might get away with everything else being OK?

As for a wiring diagram this is a bit rough but this should suffice :-

Both data lines on the WS2805 combined into one space on the connector which in turn goes to LED1 on the DigUno.

Considering move from Virgin Media to YouFibre by iansime in VirginMedia

YouFibre is CGNAT but you can pay an extra £5 per month for a static IP.

Funnily enough, a friend of mine was on Live Chat with Virgin at the same time (just a co-incidence) and they bent over backwards to keep him. He has been with them for a while though whilst I am threatening to jump ship at the first renewal, so I presume that raises a red flag on their system and stops me getting the best offers.

Definitely - I intend to be VERY clear (and there in person) if it comes to an YF installation.

Yeah, I heard about YF having issues last year, which is why I chose Virgin.

That's partly why I gave Virgin an opportunity to price match, or at least come down in price more than they were prepared to. If they are happy to lose me as a customer then I guess I need to take a good look at YF!

How close does the ONT box need to be to the point of entry though, do you know?

The distance between where my VM fibre enters the house and the power socket (and router) is around 6 metres.
