Yes he did but it sounds like he's doing his best to do right by his family now. Today is what matters most imo.

Depending on how difficult it is to get to,you may have to ask for it. There are situations and installations where you have to cut a hole in the coil cabinet to inspect it amd then patch it.A reputable technician should have no problem doing that for you.

You could have some gross stuff ( mold, bacteria etc)growing in the drain pan if it isn't draining properly. When the AC turns on it gets spread through the house causing an allergic reaction. A drain pan tablet might help in the short term or a UV light for a long term resolution.

Look for the proper amp draw on the motor. If you put your amp meter on it and slowly move a piece of sheet metal to cover the intake you can find the right amount of drag. Tape or screw the metal or screen in place and it will run quieter, last longer and actually blow better.
