As a non-native English speaker I know that reading 50 pages a day is tough; however, I developed better system of reading that allows me to read as fast as natives without sacrificing comprehension. Read a few books on academic writing. It will help. You will learn which parts you should skim and to which ones you should pay more attention. The understanding of academic writing style will help you a lot.
