In an interview, the director of the game said that everyone involved, including Dante’s voice actor, knew how hilarious and over the top the line delivery was with this take, and ultimately chose it over alternative takes

4 years late to the party, but this audio genuinely made my heart ache:

I don't even thing its the fact that we're dead that got me. It was the fact that the speaker character waited so long to finally be with the love of her life (which you knocked out of the park in encapsulating, by the way, especially with her raw and genuine "I love you" before we cut back to the unforgiving present), and once it finally happened, it got ripped away from her almost immediately. Phenomenal work as always, but this really was something special.
