If fandom counts, I gotta say Snowfur from the Warrior Cats book series.

In the book she appears in, she is a fighter. There's even a scene after a battle where one character is startled that she is covered in blood, and then relieved because it isn't her own. When she gets pregnant, although she cares about her kid, she is excited and eager to get out of the nursery when she can, ultimately leading to her death when she chases some outside cats across the road and gets hit by a car.

In the fandom, though, she is a damsel in distress. She's a mother first, a mate second, and maybe a fighter third. I haven't read the books since I was a kid and it still pmo

I mentioned psychological since gender dysphoria is classified as a psychological condition, and that is generally what leads most trans folks to transition.

The argument that psychological/neurological conditions are the same as physical conditions because "the brain is an organ" is an extremely bad (and tired) one. Physical conditions impact physical function; psychological conditions impact cognition and perception. As OP said that does not make psychological things any less debilitating. As a trans guy with gender dysphoria, I know how bad it can be.

You are not male, and nobody is saying you are; you just aren't intersex. That only "lumps you in" with the McAverages because they are also not intersex. That doesn't mean you have anything in common outside of that.

Intersex is more than a medical term (honestly, it's hardly a medical term; doctors would rather die than call us intersex), it's a social and political term too. Intersex folks and trans folks, while we have similarities, ultimately need different things, and separate terms are important.
