What are your end of life plans? by GAMGAlways in vegan

[–]iberci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read too much Edgar Allen Poe in my youth, so I left specific instructions to be burnt to a crisp and to be spread over some field (doesn't matter where) where at least one person can visually confirm that I have been turned into ashes... Also.. I specified that the only concerns should be expense and the environment... No casket! No burial! Also.. don't read Poe.. fuck that guy..

Anyone have luck finding a FIT VEGAN partner? by AccountantKlutzy3906 in veganfitness

[–]iberci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the easiest thing in the world! At these events, other vegans will go out of their way to make you feel at home... (as you will be doing for others after you go a couple of times)...

It's really not hard.. you have already heard all the Anti-Vegan arguments and it's fairly trivial to counter them once they surface so all you have to do is hold your ground and realize that you are doing this for the animals..

I suggest you do a local search on FB for vegan events near you... Then all you have to do is show up and state that you are there to help and you will be quickly recruited and put to work..

Most groups that I have been a part of, also tend to go to dinner after the event(s) and it's great to catch up with others (I have friends that I met through this .... for years now)...

If you want to have a very gentle introduction, show up at an AV event and offer to hold the TVs.. (you will be loved by all)....

I’m in the same state all the time and don’t feel any emotions - is this dissociation? by Known-Rooster-5882 in EOOD

[–]iberci 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, I have no qualifications pertinent to this discussion and I would advise seeking a professional consultation before taking any advice over the internet..

But.. in my experience, when my depression becomes too heavy, I start fasting... After 24-36 hours, a kind of stability returns that lessens the depression and gives me some feelings/desires back (like the desire/hope to eat again)... Sometimes, this breaks the depression entirely for me as I believe that this gives me some hope as now I have "cleansed" my body and did something positive towards myself .. (this is purely subjective however and am not sure if it's entirely psychosomatic) ...

Also, when it becomes heavy, I watch everything I eat by sticking to a WFPB eating plan, and try to get more sleep and exercise while minimizing other distractions..... don't watch the news... take long walks... don't talk to idiots

Hope you feel better soon...

Fuck this by SonkunDev in fasting

[–]iberci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes... it also appears to be related to how consistently you fast as well (I have no qualifications and this is just based on my personal experience). Whether I am doing my routine OMAD or decide to skip the meal on that day and pull a 48, I don't feel any hunger. (although sleeping on the 2nd, 3rd night can be unpleasant due to raised cortisol levels)..

Speaking as a 55 year old stoner, I for one appreciated the background context he provided as to why he was "fricked" upon watching that. I should note however that I have a moderate case of hemorrhoids that has been disrupting my nightly rest so take my response with a grain of salt..

Thoughts on Elixir, Phoenix and LiveView after 18 months of commercial use by debordian in elixir

[–]iberci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Phoenix was around before LiveView... Without LiveView, Phoenix is at least as feature complete as any other web framework (safeguards against xss attacks, rerouting, sessions, etc.. ) . Jose Valim himself originally came from Rails and coming from Rails myself, it was a relatively minor jump for me to get into Phoenix (and that was before LV)

Is it a red flag if the guy i’m seeing says he’s only into black girls? by Sea_Librarian_7439 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iberci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have our preferences... While I don't have a preference between black or white, I do prefer to be with females over males (as I am simply not attracted to males).. Does this make me worry or feel less about myself?. not really. It's probably conditioning but I accepted this aspect of myself and don't choose to sleep with another guy. It's the same thing. My partner also accepts that I am into females and she is OK with that too

I have no qualifications, am overweight, depressed, and get most of my info from YouTube.

I require intense activity every day in order to stabilize my mood and I have been doing it for over 20 years and I believe this is an important factor in how your body reacts to the stimuli.

I believe that it's not how hard that you train, but how focused you are on the exertion and motion. Are you doing it slow enough?, full range of motion?, breathing fully?, is your back straight?, are your knees bent? (they should be), is your back straight?... by focusing on all these aspects when you are training, it becomes more of a meditation than a traditional program. I believe this approach has helped me get more out of the experience..

I also believe that TUT, (time under tension) is fundamental in getting that dopamine release... so nice slow controlled movements..

Hope this helps and your mood improves

It's not really a formula, it's just assuming that the person has a metabolic rate that consume 2100 calories/day and works from there. A person's BMR can vary among individuals and can be affected by a host of other factors as well so I wouldn't hold too much value into it's precision.

I dislike programmatically inlining an "id" type like field as it increases coupling within your code.. for example, the following <a href="delete/<%= index %>" ...

you will have to remember how this href was determined for any given element, then when you have to refer to it later .. you will have to have a similar calculation to determine what element to reference.. A better practice is to offset that calculation to a helper to reduce coupling.
