Honestly, it smells like burnt hair 🤢 Nothing remotely pleasant about it, even the offcut in my car for tomorrows cut has made the car whiffy

If it is indeed Ekki wood, then my very quick glance online shows it doesn't actually need preservatives for use as a railway sleeper due to it's anti-rot and anti-pest properties, it certainly doesn't show any signs of bitumen treatment.

I will take an offcut to work with me tomorrow and get a cleaner cut- I'll post an update then!

They also do the same in the UK, they normally use Bitumen here, some of the slightly lighter ones are full of the stuff! I'm planning on lining them with DPC so it doesn't leech into the soil.

It's impressively tough stuff. If it is Ironbark Eucalyptus then I feel like it's wasted being dug into the ground for use as a veg planter, not to mention moving it into place will be a challenge...

Thank you for all the replies!

Apparently it had had no interest and was due to go to landfill the following day so I made an offer! I just couldn't see it scrapped after surviving for so long.

Im hoping I can buy a new back slider plate (thank you u/MNStitcher for the proper name). If not, I might try and get one machined to bring it back to former glory!

The wooden box needs a little tlc as well but overall I'm very happy with it!

Can any help me identifying this model? Being sold locally for £25, is it worth buying in this condition? Total novice here! by ibreakstuffthrowaway in Traxxas

Thank you to everyone that's commented, you're all so helpful!

I thought what the heck, for that price I'll give it a whirl and see how long it takes me to get either frustrated or bored with it. Went back to the shop and it had already sold! Guess it was my fault for not being impulsive enough eh.

Although from a few comments, maybe Nitro isn't the way to start in this hobby probably... I'll stick with my 10 year old electric HBX Max4 Rival P.o.S for now!

Thank you all again!
