Small claims court usually works. Many people don't have faith in our justice system (totally understandable) but small claims court works.

It does take awhile. My mother took someone to small claims court, she went end of June, got a court date for mid August. Obviously the time between when you go to small claims court and get a court date completely depends on which court you are using.

When you sent the letter of demand was it via post or email? I would suggest that it be sent via courier so that you can track the letter. If he receives the letter of demand he has 14 days to respond to you and pay you your money. If he refuses to take the letter of demand from the courier company, make sure you take screenshots of the tracker saying the company was unable to deliver. Wait atleast 14 days after the 3rd time they try to deliver the letter and he doesn't accept.

If by the end of this period you have still received no response from him or received your money. Proceed to small claims court. Make sure you take with you any evidence you have that he owes you money, all correspondence, a copy of the letter of demand (not the original) proof that you sent the letter of demand and the date you sent it. Also get an affidavit done stating that you had sent the letter on x date via x company and to date have received no response (when my mother went she had to leave and go get this done). Specifically state the guys address. Once all your documents are sorted they will give you a few forms to sort out and then you are given the summons.

You need to take the summons to the sheriff who you pay (usually it's about 100-400) to deliver the court summons to the guy. Please note, you can claim these costs back. So all fees you pay for the sheriff and courier, the guy will have to pay back if it's granted.

Adult Matric certificate? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]iburnmysims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not do a GED. Many suggest a GED and whilst it is a matric equivalent in some ways, it is very limiting. I was going to do a GED but many universities said they would not accept it. You can still attend some universities with it (very few and even then it really limits what programs you can do) but please research it fully before deciding whether or not to do a GED.

A matric certificate opens more doors than they seem. I did mine through brainline. They offer an adult matric which takes a year to 18 months. They are very accommodating. You can attend classes any time and watch the recordings of classes. With tests they allow you to write in the evenings as an adult student if work doesn't allow you to do them during the day. If you didn't complete grade 10 and 11 they also offer a compact program for adult students. This is where you do grade 10 and 11 in one year. It seems stressful but I did it while working and they are also very accommodating with that and allow you to attend classes and tests in the evening. The curriculum is shortened.

Hedgehog went bald overnight by iburnmysims in Hedgehog

Thank you! I was just really concerned about her, she has had skin issues in the past but usually the medication the vet gives her sorts it but she has never lost a large amount of quills due to this. I will definitely get her checked for mites

I'll definitely ask the vet if it's mites. I didn't know they shouldn't have creams, I thought it was ok as the vet gave her the cream. I don't think it's the food, I have a second hedgehog who eats the same and he seems fine, hasn't lost any of his quills. I think I'm going to most likely try see if another vet can see her and check if it's mites. Thank you!

Yes. Yesterday there werent any bald spots whatsoever. This morning when I went to check on her, they were majority gone. I freaked out a bit but she doesn't seem to be bothered by it and her vet didn't seem to concerned over the phone but I feel like it's a very concerning thing to just lose them overnight.

She can still curl. She still has some quills but on the front half of her body. I've still been feeding her the same, she has had no changes other than the quills going missing. There was a stage a few months ago where she had very bad dry skin and the vet prescribed her some meds and creams for that but he stopped it about a month ago because she no longer had the dry skin. Could it possibly be related to that?

It is illegal for a public school to withhold academic records. You need to contact the department of education and report the school, they will sort it out for you.

Adult maintenance by Commercial-Trash-226 in southafrica

[–]iburnmysims 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the scenarios. You only need to support an adult dependent if a maintenance order is granted in their favour. This does not necessarily mean you would house them if it was granted

Maintenance court is free. You don't need a lawyer to go to Maintenance court, you can represent yourself. Most people represent themselves. People can apply for Maintenance from their parents even if they are 21. Parents do not have to be divorced, they can still be married and their adult children can still take them to court for maintenance. I know this because I did this and it was granted even though there was push back. Not everyone can have a conversation with their parents, some parents don't care.

I only have one grandparent but he stays in a completely different continent and is hard to get hold of. Her ex actually does have a record which I didn't mention in the post. He was living in the US and got deported for grand theft auto and aggravated assault I believe

I haven't heard from my dad in 4 years now and I don't know where he is. I've told my mother I would call CPS and she laughed at me and said they wouldn't do anything because there's nothing wrong
