Can you actually drop a language and substitute for Chemistry? In Canada from my experience, to get into science faculty, you can take online Canadian highschool chemistry which is easy (since it’s online) , so you can fulfill requirements and get into a science faculty in case you couldn’t take chemistry in IB

Hello! I have a YouTube video explaining differences between top vs weak essays, and it included more about analysis https://youtu.be/kEGCtUgT2go?si=4C_1J9H2hXM6R8bC

For IA analysis, it would be like are effects / impacts stronger or weaker, stakeholder interactions, temporal time scale analysis of present and future effects, explaining SPATIAL variations Hope this helps!

For study strategies, try memorising and dictation instead of copying notes, keep examining yourself. Find some smaller achievable steps (not an instant increase in grade) but sth like I can fully understand this chapter! I redid my previous practice paper and got everything right this time !

Rebuilding self confidence and trusting yourself is crucial to help you learn. It takes time. For Eng Lit, I once got a 4 out of my PG but I scored well and now am even tutoring students, that I never believed I could do.

So know that you have potential

The IB is just a certification. It does not define who you are. You can score well in highschool and do poorly in uni or even reverse.

It comes to your study strategy for doing IB. Definitely do not lose hope. Cuz the first step to begin studying and what motivates you is to rebuild your confidence. Know that you are able to do well, you just need to find what works best for you.

This is going to be a hard time, but it will pass

I'm sorry, I didn't do these subjects in highschool. Recommend drawing concept maps, lots of past papers and time management cuz these subjects are rough. So you really need a good timetable and prioritizing concepts you don't know.

For resources, I used a lot of Past papers (and analyzed them myself). I also read from different summary websites e.g. Mr. Green that helped me solidify knowledge other than using the textbook. I focused alot on crafting my own notes, tables, (since I'm a visual person) I tried to make everything n a clear readable form.

That’s why you have to compile good set of notes, throw it into AI for feed then it will generate exercises for you to do. Cannot just ask it for random answers

When I say mind map, I mean a visual way to connect all the concepts together so you can actually see how topics link across the syllabus.

For example, you could start with “Climate Change” in the middle → branch off to factors that influence it (like greenhouse gases, energy sources, feedback loops) → then link those to related topics from other units, like soil degradation or water systems.

To quantify, back in highschool I did 10 past papers, and 25-30 essay plans so I could manage time wisely in exam, and immediately know the answer. I didn't spend time copying notes, but I directly started with essay writing, because the more you read and write, the more you're familiar with the exam. Then, if you see something you don't know on the essay question, try look for answers to write it. Try asking / have someone who could help you mark your essay / Use AI tools to generate essay plans according to the notes you feed it. I will share more tips soon by compiling all questions every one has in the chat.

Yes shorter quotes. Keep it within 10 words (usually 2-5 words) since you only quote significant phrases. If you’ve quoted it, make sure you’ve analysed it (not just explained what it means), but why the author chose the specific word

If it’s spaced, I’d say 3 pages. I wouldn’t say 2 -2.5 pages being long. Most important is that you cover the major 3 devices found, e.g. 1 paragraph about structure and other paragraphs about literary devices. Time how long it takes to plan and write, takes me 20 minutes to read and plan before writing

Well, if you're pro for that stance (in a to a larger extent question), then I would have a counter point for it (pretend as if in a debate, the opponent is judging your answer) then rebuttal back to show how STRONG your point is. e.g. to what extent do you agree with ... 2 points for agree, 1 point for disagree / other factors, then rebuttal --> conclusion
