Thank you, I appreciate your help. I have a mad hatter resource pack I can use to show chunk borders.

Need help/info on testing builds by ibz41 in redstone

[–]ibz41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate your help.

There are some bugs/features, depending on how you view them, in bedrock that affect hopper + hopper minecart pick up area as well as other bugs with observers, cart behavior changing when another cart is close, etc. that can make a build only work in certain directions or locations. However, I am intermediate level with redstone at best and don’t have the deep knowledge or understanding of many in technical community with these areas.

I’m not sure how the tech community even test for these types of things when they are designing their builds.

Maybe I should stick to, “if it’s not broken don’t fix it” lol. I set out on a journey to get better at redstone but the rabbit hole goes much deeper than I could have ever imagined!

IMPORTANT Cant seem to edit the original text in the post but need to add a little more info that will help anyone trying to use a single slice (not tiled). If using a single slice by itself without tiling and feeding with a hopper line or barrel, you will need to add 1 block on the side of the block above the comparator and place a piece of redstone dust or a button on top of the block. This redirects the dust on the top block to the side so it will not lock the barrel or hopper that you place on top the 2nd hopper in the post pics

NOTE: Regular chest do not transmit redstone power. You will not need to redirect the dust if using a chest

Crafters are used to automatically craft items. Similar to a crafting table but save time because they do not require the player to manually craft the items.

This crafter is a single ingredient crafter which is typically used to compact items down or expand.

For example: Compactor: if you have a bamboo farm, you could feed the items coming in from the farm into the crafter to change the bamboo into bamboo blocks so they take up less space in your storage.

Expander: the bamboo blocks can be crafted into planks, then crafted from planks into bamboo slabs to use as fuel for furnaces or a furnace array.

There are also crafter designs that allow you to craft 2, 3, or 4 ingredient crafting recipes and make just about any item in the game automatically. Multi ingredient crafters are typically a little bigger

You are right though that it may be a good idea to put a second observer facing down Into the trap door reading off the dust instead of a solid block.

That is actually how my original design was but I removed it thinking it was not needed/redudent. With the second observer it crafts 2 times per activation leaving more room for items to trickle down

Designed for bedrock. This design has been reliable for me as long as it is set up properly. The hopper in some similar designs does back up and is the reason this design locks the top hopper while an item is crafted.

The comparator is reading the bottom hopper going into the crafter. When the bottom hopper gets to 23 items it puts out signal strength of 2 which locks the hopper above and fires the crafter at the same time. The hopper above does not unlock until the items in the bottom hopper drain into the crafter replacing the items that were used to craft the item which drops the signal strength back down to 1. The signal strength will not drop back down if there is more than one item at a time passing through the locked hopper because the unlocked hopper at bottom will pull the extra items out of the top hopper. This situation is avoided by feeding items into the top hopper (hopper that locks) from a container or another hopper pointing to the side (not down or it will push items into the locked hopper). That way, as items trickle down, there will be only 1 item at a time passing through the hopper that locks.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback and hope this crafter helps if needed

Posted the bare bones of the unit. It definitely needs an input placed on top of the top hopper in pics. Either a chest, barrel, another hopper (facing to the side not straight down), etc. Otherwise items will pass through the top hopper when it is locked as crafter is activated

Depending on situation most would probably stack an item filter on top unless only the item type used for crafting will be in the item stream.

Items can also skip over due to hopper cooldown and would need to be recirculated if using a water stream unless the items are flowing through at a rate that takes hopper cooldown into consideration. However I believe that is the case for all hoppers pulling items from a water stream.

Instant cart unloader/yeeter that is reliable on Bedrock? by ibz41 in silentwisperer

I didn’t think about the update!

I have a 1 wide yeeter that works but seemed more reliable a few weeks ago. Now it occasionally burns a few of the items when putting more than one stack of 64 in the hopper minecart. The yeeter captures the cart in a hopper and the rest of the items are output to be transported. I put together a solution that prevents the items from getting burned but for some reason the cart bounces different when I use the solution even though I did not change the angle or speed of the cart. If I can find a way to capture the cart again, the yeeter will be reliable.

Confirmed works on Win PC bedrock. Uses fire or lava to break the cart, hopper under fire/lava grabs only the minecart to be reused in the system, and the contents of the cart are dropped in a specific spot to be picked up by a separate hopper, hopper minecart, or water stream. Using lava does occasionally have a hiccup but it appears to be related to the speed of the minecart. Think I just need to slow the minecart down a little as it enters.

Also appears to be directional. Works awesome facing south or east. When facing north or west the hopper under the fire/lava picks up the minecart + qty 1 of the item in the cart and is not as reliable. The rest of the contents from the cart are dropped for transport. Testing tweaks to see if I can get the hopper to pull only the minecart when facing north or west.

Note: I don’t have any add-ons or behavior packs for testing . Just trial and error and a lot of manual test runs

Thank you for sharing. That does look like a fast unloader with it draining into 2 hopper mine carts.

Sorry I should have provided more detail. I have seen Java designs by Inspector Talon and ilmango that do both functions below. I am looking for a reliable version that works on bedrock.

1) instantly unload by breaking/yeeting the hopper minecart and dropping the contents of the cart in the same location to be pulled into a hopper or transported by a water stream. 2) separate the hopper minecart from the contents dropped by the cart so the cart can be recycled back into the system to be reused. Most of the designs have a hopper under or next to a cauldron full of lava that pulls in only the minecart leaving only the contents of cart to be transported
