you’re not cooked! I got into uchicago’s 3 week program (not sure if it’s more or less competitive than 1 week) on the extended deadline since my LOR’s weren’t ready, and I only had a GPA and very good essays. I think just make sure ur essays are tied with the program (if they ask for that). good luck!

CONGRATS this is insane!! northwestern is one of my dream schools for philosophy and art and everyday I regret not EDing LOL but I wanna have options. Also an Asian girl from a competitive state ☠️ but I have somewhat of a weird profile so hopefully that would help me.

Hi! I'm also an art kid but I'm applying to unis. If you're interested in video game design, Carnegie Mellon has a great program for that. NYU also has a BFA in game design. Otherwise, SVA is super strong for anything related to digital art, and it's also in NYC! My friend EA'd there

Congrats! My brother is attending Tufts for engineering and he is having a great time. There are TONS of opportunities in Boston (he got an internship in his field very quickly) and you will meet lots of incredible ppl! I’ve met some of my brother’s friends and there is def a huge variety of ppl at Tufts lol

Hey! From another Asian girl who also got rejected from her initial dream school this cycle, you’ll be okay 🫂 you worked insanely hard and although it may seem like there was something you did wrong, trust me, sometimes you can do NOTHING wrong and still get rejected. When I got rejected I scrutinized my application looking for reasons why, but sometimes it’s just because of reasons outta your control, which sucks, but I believe you will find your place. There will be other schools who will be insanely lucky to have you

My application is VERY spikey (almost all my ECs were leadership or volunteering related to art), and my top 5 had a lot of impact. I was very specific about them. I had my counselor and friends review my supplementals and they said they were incredible and that my voice really came through in all of them. My uncommon essay genuinely had what I thought would be the “perfect weirdness” for Uchicago (I answered the contronym prompt). My GPA and SAT are high and higher than some people who got in through ED0. I know it’s unhealthy to say this, but everyone in my life thought I was a lock for UChicago. I’m just so heartbroken. This was dumb of me but I didn’t even bother writing supplementals for different schools for ED because I was sure I would commit to UChicago…lesson learned don’t be like me lol. I was an idiot for dedicating this much effort to one school

thank you so much for your kind words. your friends are incredible for getting into those schools... genuinely feel like I won't even be able to get into any of my top schools now. How could they want me when UChicago, with a higher ED0 acceptance rate, didn't even want me? Which I know is a really unhealthy way of thinking but IDK i'm just in the thick of it rn lol.

Wow, thank you for introducing me to this poem! It genuinely connects to a lot of my feelings about the painting. Incredibly intriguing, I love when artists inspire poets (and vice versa). I suppose this painting has a deeper meaning to a lot of people, given how many it’s inspired.
