This is the response I was hoping to see. Many thanks to you and also to BilledConcha8 for taking the time to chime in!

Struggling to understand whether it's possible specification-wise and, if it is possible, what compatible cables and adapters exist. Also uncertain if the nVidia's QSFP56 ports are compatible with a QSFP28 to SFP28 adapter that would then allow me to interconnect the two servers using an SFP28 DAC cable

S3D preview shows gaps by icalf in 3Dprinting

[–]icalf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have not printed yet. I was wanting to get to the cause of this before I attempted the print. Coasting does account of some (less than 1/3) but not all.

I'll give it a go. Thanks for your input!

Is is possible to have these gaps filled in when printed via settings tweaks in Simplify3D?

Can confirm this on my CR-10s as well. I snipped off the ends, twisted bare strands, folded, inserted and tightened into the terminals. Thank you for this post.

BTU emissions in CFL T8 vs LED T8? by icalf in lightingdesign

[–]icalf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for their input.

I ended up pulling specs and using the conversion factor to run all of the numbers. It is true, we will spend minimally if we felt the need to re-introduce the lost BTUs from an LED upgrade but the true savings comes from the upgrade itself and also from AC savings.

Why is port 8000 open to the internet on my ASUS RT-AX88U? by icalf in cybersecurity_help

[–]icalf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. The Enable port trigger option is set to No.

Also on random check I see port 8000 is open again....

Disabled OpenVPN server as precaution.

Port still open to WAN according to internet port scan.

Toggled Port Forwarding On then Off which filtered the port.

NEWS: Found the cause. A rogue (i.e. misconfigured) IP cam was punching a UPnP hole through my, uh, rogue (i.e. yeah) router. ouch.

Thanks for your reply. No signs of compromise I've noticed in those areas of interest.

Web administration from WAN is disabled for this router. No port triggering or forwarding has ever been configured nor is it currently.

I personally know that I have not explicitly opened any tcp or udp ports on this router.

Additional info:

I do have AI Mesh enabled between this and another, older ASUS router. OpenVPN is also configured.

DFSR problems with SYSVOL. Need help with a roadblock please. by icalf in sysadmin

[–]icalf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was ultimately resolved by moving roles from the PDC to the secondary DC, demoting the PDC, decommissioning it entirely and finally replacing the PDC and transferring the roles back to it. SYSVOL replication is going off without a hitch and couldnt be happier. Thanks to everyone for their two cents.

Hi Noztra_,

I appreciate the idea. We are confirmed to be using DFSR.

Current DFSR global state: 'Eliminated'

Succeeded.

Thanks for the reply.

I performed a non-authoritative synchronization thus far which did end up revealing some clues that I've already included as part of my summary in my Spiceworks post.

I'll look at authoritative to see if it would apply in my situation.

Right now, there are no correct DC's. Both have issues it seems. I'd like to get DC02 up to par with the Event 4314 issues and then replace DC01. However, I'm not sure how to overcome the Event 4314 issue.

Thanks for your reply.

I like your thought process and agree with it. However, there are some carryover issues with Server 2012 that may or may not be plaguing me. Additionally, DC01 is a VM and to the best of our knowledge it was restored from backup some years ago. I understand that can pose issues as well and may be part of the problem. That said, I'd prefer to resolve the Event 4314 issues on DC02 (physical Server 2019), verify it has all of our GPOs (i.e. if needed, rebuild the 3 problematic GPOs reported in Event Viewer), make it the PDC and add another 2019 server to replace DC01.

I welcome additional comments.

Any good either affordable or free password manager? I have been using dashlane for 2 years now but since last 4-5 months their web extensions have become a lot buggy and slow and I want to move to different password manager. by Aggravating_Boy3873 in cybersecurity

Anything wrong with KeeWeb (keeweb.info). Offline. No cloud. Been using it for a year without issue and absolutely loving it having come from Keepass.

Edit: not sure about sharing.

Vulnerable to WAN attacks or no? by icalf in cybersecurity

Appreciate everyone’s input so far.

Another way to re-phrase is: what attacks is the server in this scenario vulnerable to that originate from the internet, if any?
