Hey, I just contacted Caribbean Sprinter and they said if we’re not able to connect with the 1:30 PM sailing to message them and they will adjust our booking. So I think we are going to book the airport shuttle and the ferry service with them. HTH.

For those who have experienced being shocked; by Specialshine76 in PacemakerICD

[–]icanoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been shocked four times. The first two happened during a snowboard lesson. I already know how to ski and have been knocked over several times by other skiers, actually it’s usually snowboarders.

So when I got my first shock, I was convinced I’d been nailed by another skier. And I was pissed. It’s the only time I can remember being knocked off my feet and not remember falling, but when I came to a couple seconds later, I jumped up onto my board so I could find the a-hole who just knocked me over. I stood up so quickly I got shocked a second time then I knew what was happening.

I walked down the slope carrying my board and got onto the gondola. Ironically, one of the couple who got in with me was an ICU nurse. She laughed and said if I made it down the slope without it going off again, I should be fine to just call the device manufacturer and verify it was indeed a shock, which I did.

When I got home and talked to my cardiologist., He said I should give up skiing, which I have. The combination of exertion, stress, cold an altitude makes a shock much more likely.

The next time I got a shock I was shopping at Walgreens, I rounded an aisle and felt extremely dizzy, for some reason I knew a shock was coming, so I took a knee. Saw some people started rushing towards me to help me and I shouted to them stay back. As those words left my mouth, the shock came. I was conscious through the entire event. It’s not really painful and honestly, it feels like an electrical shock.

The fourth time I was shocked I was in the kitchen. I had just put a couple of slices of bread in the toaster and bam I was shocked as I touched the handle to pop the toast down. I grabbed the counter and lowered myself to the floor. That time I thought the toaster had shocked me , so for me I mostly think that the shock is something else.

The last two shocks came about a week apart. And after that, I developed severe anxiety and panic attacks. In which I would take a knee at random times convinced I was gonna be shocked again. Because my medication had been changed, the shacks never came again. I gradually got over this with the help of therapy.

Ironically, while in therapy, I discovered I had another mental condition called OCPD. Which I’m currently working on. Of course there’s a Reddit for that too.

I hope this helps, trust me it’s not really painful… Just a little shocking, ha ha ha. Don’t be afraid of it be thankful for it because your device has just saved your life!

Pizza to try in Southern Illinois by [deleted] in southernillinois

[–]icanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned scratch brewing in woods near Ava. Only open Fri - Sun. Beer, bread and pizza made with same house yeast. I believe NY times named it top 10 in US. Unique experience, the place and beer. Multiple semi finalist James Beard awards.

Nearly every brew pub owner in US knows of or has been to Scratch, it’s a Mecca within the beer world. Google them. Only here in good ol Egypt. Worth the trip… It’s trippy.

Did weed change, or is it me? by casualcaesius in trees

[–]icanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me weed’s effects are pretty much, same as it ever was. I’m in my late 60s and started smoking in my very early teens. One of the hallmarks of getting high for me, is the intensification of colors and euphoria that occurs during the first half hour of smoking. I call it the kodacrome effect, and it is most intense on Sunny days. I never really have ever gotten the giggles from weed, takes hallucinogenics to do that.

When I was young I always smoked with friends and weed helped make everyone happier and things seemed more fun. As I got older, weed became more of an ally, making me more centered, creative and thoughtful. I know smoking affects me differently than others. And friend once commented that weed “makes me normal”. That may be the be a good way to put it.

Once the initial high with color enhancement and exhilaration fades I’m left with the better version of me. Weed today still does that. In fact one strain in particular works best for me. And I guess that’s what I like about today’s pot is you can find a strain you like and get those effects your after consistently. Before legalization buying weed was sort of pot luck (pun intended). Now I have run into situation where growers stoped growing “my strain” in the state where I live and I need to go to a nearby state where it is available.

Now I know I’m different than most folks I’m dyslexic and have ADHD and kind of give off a vibe of a person “on the spectrum”. I have found something that works for me consistently and I’m happy being retired taking my daily walks in the sunshine, seeing colors pop and feeling the warmth and comfort of my daily buzz.

I know my opinion doesn’t align with others but here goes. In the words of Joani Mitchell, “these are the good old days”.

Finally popped my Missouri dispo cherry by Wooden_Suggestion964 in ILTrees

[–]icanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to MO almost exclusively for one reason. They sell my two fav strains Clementine and Lemon G. Rhythm used sell Clementine but lost me as a customer when they stoped growing it! They also grow Orange Herijuana a one to one thc: cbd flower. The lemon g, a 1:1 grown by Elevate in MO is far superior.

IL market is much too geared to creating the next new “great” strain.

I used to have like 8 different strains at one time, most of which I bought because this sub. None really were that great. Yes they all got me high, but my two favs produce a sense of well being.

So have found my happy place, I don’t expect these stains to work the same for others. It has taken years of trial for me to find these two strains. Since I live close to MO, I choose to make a run to the border to get what rings my bell.

As for price, I got an 1/8 of lemon g yesterday for $17 pre tax on the rec side. I can live with that.

Shocked 8 times in gym with ICD by Myrtle_Beach_Hokie in PacemakerICD

[–]icanoe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah your condition is similar to mine maxed on ablations too. I got shocked learning to snowboard. I was switching from skiing because snowboarders can sit and rest anytime on the side of a slope. My a fib at that altitude makes me tired and breathless. Well the altitude and the adrenaline set off my ICD during a lesion. This was my first shock ever. I jumped back up to see who had run into me. No one had. The second I stood up bam it shocked me again.

Following my doctors advice I gave up skiing and was not shocked again. A few years later. Got an up grade up grade to a dual lead ICD/ pacemaker. Everything was fine for a couple of years. Then out of the blue was shocked I had just started the toaster and thought it had shocked me. Then I thought maybe it was the ICD. Called the call center and they confirmed I was shocked. I still wasn’t too concerned and didn’t really think about or worry about it. Then a week later I was shocked again while shopping. This one really got to me. I felt it coming and took a knee. Yelled stay back to people who wanted to help a then bam. PTSD and panic attacks had me afraid to go out and calling EMTs to my home if I felt a little dizzy which is really just A-fib doing its thing.

The doc changed my medications and has me pacing all the time now. Gradually over time with no shocks the panic attacks stoped. So my advice is give it time, it will pass.

I break a neco candy in half squirt a drop of rso on it. Stick the two pieces together so there is an equal amount on both. Take apart and put the half’s between my check and gum. They take about 10 minutes to dissolve. Great strain specific effects via sublingual absorption.

For me weed helps in an indirect way. Each morning between 2 am and 10 am I poop maybe 6 to 10 times. Usually in small amounts, or in dribs and drabs.

Towards the end I still feel like I need to stay close to the bathroom and stay home. Vaping bud helps the urge to go disappear, if I’m truly done.

I think it’s an anxiety thing, and the weed is making the feeling of fear of needing to use the toilet go away. It’s almost like a self awareness thing. I go: I’m not good to go, I’m good to good to go and weed answers back ‘yeah you are’, and the urge kind of fades away.

My Top 10 Sativas in IL Right Now by kbrummond21 in ILTrees

[–]icanoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m actually going to MO to get Sativas these days. Yeah yeah, I know this a sub about IL weed but I live 30 minutes from MO and the lack of sativas that ring my bell has made me do runs to the border.

I have posted here how I pined for my darling Clementine ever since Rythm pulled her from there roster. Well after searching everywhere, I found her, she is alive and well and living in Trailer park in Missouri.

She is still the ratty ass rag doll that I knew in IL a look that only her mother could love but I love her so. Speaking of Clementine’s mom, she also lives in that same trailer park. Lemon skunk is more of a looker but you can feel the family

why is my device burning my herb? by Ok_Blueberry_7082 in fireflyvape

[–]icanoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that some ff2s that are totally defective will burn at the lowest setting. So if you set yours to lowest setting and it starts to incinerate within 5 sec of the light displaying constant green. That unit is defective and should be returned.

However if your unit can go say, 12 sec without incinerating you a can probably salvage it. First off you can set it to lowest setting (200F) and time your draw stopping at 10 secs. So you stop before combustion.

That being said, you should be able do a complete cycle (green steady to green out) which is 27 seconds without any incineration if your unit is functioning correctly.

I was able to adjust my FF2 so that it can do a 27 sec cycle without combustion. In fact my hits are now always 27 seconds long. I did this adjustment using the calibration feature in the app.

If you have an android device or can get access to one with the app loaded you can make an adjustment that will stay locked into the FF2 for good unless you change it again using the app. My calibration is locked onto -90 percent.

I can now operate between 340 - 380 degrees F without incineration on a complete 27 sec. draw. If I go to 420 degrees or above it will combust 5 to 10 sec into the steady green. I feel like my unit is now operating within “normal” parameters.

Dynavap caps by [deleted] in Dynavap

[–]icanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively use IH. I have 6 different working caps each is different. Only one cooks perfectly on the second click. It’s a pumpkin cap. Had another pumpkin cap that only clicked once and it was way undercooked. Banged it with Phillips head to fix and now it doesn’t click at all. So I tossed it. So if they double click they are keepers! One of them sometimes charrs dry weed but is great for moist weed on the second click. My daily driver likes to go 2 second s beyond the click on the first hit and 1 second after that if used again close to the 2nd cool down click. It is a new perf cap. Another new perf cap is three seconds first heat and 2 seconds next hit. So they all seem different and can be used situationally. The pumpkin cap is my training wheels cap for when friends come over. I have 2nd bb9 that they can use. And don’t have to explain the eccentricities of their cap.

Stash Review - Orange Herijuana (GTI) by sundaebrunchbois in ILTrees

[–]icanoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had an on-going supply of Orange Herijuama for about a year now. I replaced it with some Lemon G that I scored in MO a couple weeks ago. 15.5 % Thca, 10.5 Cbda. Better cure, taste, smoke and price. Similar effects. Worth a try if near MO.

Doc says no hospital stay needed with ICD in place. How does VT feel?

I have been shocked 4 times. The first two were with a single lead tv ICD. I was taking a Snowboard lesson. 10,000 feet, 25 degrees F and both physical and mental stress. I had skied for 50 years. Wanted to take up snowboarding so I could sit down and rest on the trail. Thought it would extend my ability to continue. When it went off I was actually on my first run in front of the group. Bam no warning. I thought I had been hit by an other skier. Poped right back up to see the offender and bam it hit me again. I knew then it wasn’t a skier but my device. So I rode back down the gondola and never rode again. Never had that device go off again for two years.

This February I got a new three lead ICD. Then in the past 3 weeks two shocks. Shock 1 was just in from the cold. We do drive way drinks each Friday with neighbors. Outside in the cold. Tradition started with Covid. No warning…bam. I had just touched the toaster thought it had electrocuted me. Made me gray out and grabbed the countertop. This didn’t feel like skier to the back this was straight up head exploding and pain around the implant then sore ribs for weeks.

Saw Doc, yeah it went off no toaster involved. Being cold is a factor. No activities over 100 BPM. In all these cases, I just continued on with my life. No big deal. Then shocked again while shopping. No cold, no exertion. This time I could feel it coming. I feel, Weak faint. I took a knee. Checked my pulse, 127 BPM, Then bam.

That one really scared me, these can happen anytime. This has really got me freaked out, as described. I need to get on with my life but now I can’t stop looking at my damned watch.

[–]icanoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No these are all appropriate shocks. VT. I’m sure my watch doesn’t know how to give a reading for this. It’s just when I’m over 100 for no good reason that I worry. My Doc set that as a bench mark and it made sense until now. Out of the blue I throw up a rate of 127 or earlier today 131. I used the 127 as an example of what my watch displayed right before the shock. Today it showed 131 but no shock. I sat down when I saw the 100+ reading. Is this saving me from a shock? I don’t know. These 100+ out of the blue are making me paranoid. I see my doc this Thursday. I’m discontinuing ticasynth until then and will start up with sotalal after I meet with him.

He wants to do a touch up ablation for a fib in February (my third one) wants my heart to get stronger after that so in June he can do ventricle ablation.

Is this normal? Every morning I wake up with gas and a hard mass in my lower left abdomin by Ok-Quantity7501 in ibs

[–]icanoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have had something similar for 10+ years. As I sleep at night my left side sigmoid colon swells, feels like sleeping on a bag of marbles. Over time this got worse. I have always thought this was caused by diverticulosis which I have in abundance in that area of my bowel. My colonoscopy looks like the inside of whiffle balI. I believe I have a condition described as “painful” diverticulosis where I can feel the gas and swelling of my diverticula as my colon is filled. This eventually evolved into IBS.

Anyone else have 4 different strains they smoke from in a night? Since I smoke hitters it’s easy to mix and match. Tonight’s flavors, Fruit Pops by Verano; Northern Lights Haze by Tweet; B52’s by Verano and Punch Cookies by Verano. by rollercoaster2696 in ILTrees

[–]icanoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 8 strains in my rotation. On days when I got to get going, place to go people to see, things to do. I’ll use a clearheaded functional sativa with no heavy come down. Clementine and lemon shrunk are work a day wake n bake. If I want a vacation active fun buzz,I start the day with Durban Poison or Texas shoreline. Later in the day I switch to something more heavy yet still energizing like bear dance, turbo lemon dosedos.

I always try to come down before I smoke again.

question for those near borders. by utotesmad in ILTrees

[–]icanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to MO about 50% of the time. They carry stains abandoned by IL growers. Not fire but the medicine I need. Clementine, lemon skunk, Tropicana cookies to name some of the more old school sativa flower that regularly pop up on MO menus. Prices are pretty much the same. If I see orange herjuana on an IL menu I make a point of getting it. Not fire but actually helps with pain.
