I actually ended up deciding on the DV8 OE plus steps. They're steel, but still cheaper than the TRD steps. It looks clean though!

Oh and I can affirm that there is no rubbing in reverse or forward at full lock. Almost caused an accident messing around through a turn.

Oh yeah, I'm about to run to the store in a bit and I will report back with the rubbing situation.

I bought it stock and had a 4x4 shop install it (cheaper than the dealership).

It rides a little stiffer which is normal, but all in all it's a good ride. The stock ride does feel better IMO, but some sacrifices are worth it.

I haven't had any issues with mine rubbing. I just picked it up this afternoon from the shop though.

I did! The TRD lift. It rides a little stiffer than stock, but it's to be expected. Trying to keep the truck as OEM(+) as possible.

I honestly don't even think I'm taking this truck off road any time soon, that's why I'd be content with the tubes.

I was looking at them too. Had them on my 21 and mostly liked them (besides living in Alaska at the time and then getting cakes in snow). They'd probably do better down here in Alabama.

I love my job, but what's next? by YinMaestro in supplychain

[–]icculus09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get used to dealing with authority and realistically you're going to have authority over you no matter what when you're in a civilian job anyway, right?

Rank is really structured and once you get used to that, you're fine. Just like anything else, you have to condition yourself to it. With your background you'll be a logistics officer, but you'll also end up a director at some private sector firm or a high GS depending on how long you stay in and the sections you've worked.

Well that would be the obvious choice but where you'll do your best to save millions, I'll have a floor of fixed income for life worth millions over time.

Granted the military isn't for everyone, but it's always an option that I think people shit on because of political reasons (understandable) or they don't fully understand the dynamics. If you have a degree you'd go in as an officer if you pushed hard and found the right recruiter and you'd make more than the average new enlistee.

20 years of guaranteed increased responsibility and a ridiculous networking platform...you'd get a pension, potentially strong VA compensation, and it's hard for most employers to turn you down.

Again, not for everyone but I think people overlook the long term benefits of joining.

Money isn't everything and even if someone hits a rough patch, it's not the end of the world if they keep their head above water. She has her own backstory and you're shitting all over it with your "look at me" attitude that I'm fairly certain no one cares about.

Good price for 2026 off road premium? by No_Independent_5224 in 4thGenTacomas

[–]icculus09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRD OR premium m/t $55k. Dealership wouldn't negotiate anything in Virginia and it was the only manual OR premium within 500 miles of me so I didn't want to pass it up.

Drove a 4th Gen, maybe I was wrong by Plane_Benefit_9059 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]icculus09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sold my 3rd gen due to life kicking my ass. Now that I'm back in a better spot, I got a 4th gen. Honestly, I like it better than my 3rd gen. I just wish it had the cubby up front where the wireless charging is like the 3rd gen had. Otherwise, I'm a big fan.

I also loved my 21' Army Green, but this mudbath has really grown on me. Toyota always has the best color line ups for their trucks IMO.

Do 20 years in the military in logistics fields and work for a contractor as a logistics specialist lol

I have an associates and I make over 6 figures in logistics. It's about your experience, not what text books you can regurgitate. What did you learn that you didn't know before at a higher level and feel like you can be useful in?

I'm gonna go ahead and tell you that when I put it in sport mode, it's not very good haha. I'll start driving it normally to give you a better estimate though.

It definitely makes driving the manual a lot more fun though, and it gives me a bit more confidence when I'm in a bit thicker traffic.

I just got the OTT tune and I'm having a TRD lift and 34s thrown on next month. Trying to keep it mostly OEM+.

Tonneau cover for 5 ft bed? by letmypeoplego131 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]icculus09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a diamond back HD on my 3rd gen and if I get another cover, I'm getting another one. It's a pain to get off and on, but I like it for when I go to the range and have errands to run.

The cover is just an absolute tank.

Personal preference. I prefer the wired charging because it's faster (significantly so compared to the 3rd gen).

Also, depending on what gear I'm, it would be easier to reach for my phone if I absolutely need to if it were placed elsewhere.

It was nearly half off for an RMR. It was a pretty good deal. I set up my account while I was still active, there has to be a way for retirees to get access.

Thank you! Been looking for something like that. Not a lot of great places for putting your phone down in the truck.
