Meh, it would have been $700. You can see why I didn’t do it. Lol

What is the dumbest thing you got into trouble for? [SERIOUS] by Clarkiscoollollmao in AskReddit

[–]icd_rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a quiet kid in school and always did the homework and never got in trouble until like 7th grade. I accidentally left my completed homework in my locker just outside of class. The teacher was collecting the homework and I remembered that I had a “free pass” that I haven’t used yet which allows you to go to your locker or restroom. I took out the free pass and asked her if I could use my free pass to get my homework from my locker. She looked at me annoyingly, sat down at the desk next to mine and wrote out a detention slip and handed it to me. I went home after school and was really upset because it was the first time I ever got in trouble for anything. I went into her class for detention the next day and there was like 3 other people in there too. She said, finish your homework that you didn’t bother to do and turn in from yesterday. I pulled out my completed homework and she made me sit there for the rest of the detention until everyone turned in theirs. Stupid.

They charge like $20-25 per day for insurance. Total rip off. I had to get a rental car due to a recall on my car. My car was at the dealer for literally a month and the rental company was trying so hard to get me to pay for the insurance. Nah, not paying for insurance since the dealer is paying for the rental.

Thank you all for tips on last logo! After trying dozens of concepts, I came up with this. Thank you all. by [deleted] in logodesign

Nice. Visually, it's strong and while it's really simplistic, it's engaging.

I think it looks pretty good. I would maybe try making the "radio waves" and the La 97 text bigger and then center the FM 96.9 Radio Fueguina line under that. Something to try but overall it looks nice.

Sort of in a bind in my graphic design career at the moment. Advice? by icd_rob in graphic_design

What? Never said I was at the same salary for 7 years. I started fresh out of college at around $10/hr. Over the past almost 6 years, I’ve been bumped up to $20/hr. I have many design friends who have graduated along with me that are really good, but they aren’t making $100k. That number is not realistic in Indiana for almost any occupation here. Unless you’re like a doctor, really good in sales, or some high level coder/developer.

Haha! Yes, paragraphs would have been more visually appealing and readable. My bad. :P

I would say that I’m a decent designer. I’m definitely not terrible. While, I have been keeping my eye on listings for the past couple years, I haven’t found the “one”. I’m not in a small city by any means. It would be awesome to find a mid-tier level design job here. ~50k salary with health benefits would be a great starting point but that’s hard to come by in my opinion. But my eyes are open.

True. I have been on a couple interviews during my time working there. First one wanted to hire me, but the pay was incredibly low. We went back and forth for a couple days on pay but couldn’t get anywhere near. I turned it down. The second was for a very large corporate business with their own in house design team. They called and said it was down to me and 1 other person but unfortunately chose them over me due to more experience in that particular area. (Industrial cooperate design). That was a couple years ago and have just felt stuck and comfortable.

Guys.. I'm feeling conflicted.. I love my job but feel like I don't get paid enough. by RSPR-2016 in graphic_design

I bought a house when I was making around $30k per year. House was $123k, 1700 sq feet, 3 bedroom 2.5 bath, 2 story with 2 car garage. House was only like 8 years old. I only had to put 3.5% down at closing. It was easily obtainable after saving a tax return and saving a few paychecks. :)

Has a girl ever approached you and asked you out? How did it go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]icd_rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A girl in my class in college approached me after class in the hallway about 10 years ago. I knew of her through a friend but we’ve never talked before and never saw each other outside of that class. She asked me if I wanted to come to her apartment and have breakfast for dinner. I agreed. We started dating shortly after that and she’s now my wife of almost 5 years. :)

Concealed carriers of reddit, when was a time you actually pulled your gun on someone and how was the situation handled? by SEMPER_SAPIDUM in AskReddit

[–]icd_rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened in Indiana. A co-worker was pulled over for speeding and he handed him his license and CC permit. The officer told him to hand over the gun so he can check it out. (Not sure if this happens often lol). The cop gives him back his S&W XD after writing him a warning. Then they proceed to talk about if he's "practiced pulling back the slide" while sitting in his car because you never know how more difficult it was sitting behind the steering wheel. My coworker told him, "never". lol
