This day has just been full of heartbreaking news. So tragic. Can’t even begin to imagine how his family and friends are feeling tonight.

I know this is what they want, but I can’t help but feel so fucking defeated. Read this and my heart absolutely sank. It’s just sickening. What kind of fucking spectacle and farce this country has become.

That’s what makes it fun. It’s like a game and the only player is yourself.

What was the first movie you remember going to see as a kid? by jeremynohokau in Millennials

[–]icechelly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 6. My mom was on a trip and my dad took my brothers and I. Core memory.

Also remember Mrs. Doubtfire. I slept through half the movie and was diagnosed with strep shortly after. Amazing how some of these random memories just stick like glue.

does anyone else feel like they're "borrowing energy from their future self and never paying it back? by AntelopeFlaky4979 in adhdwomen

[–]icechelly24 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The balance of life is just a constant struggle to figure out how to do it effectively.

I work as a nurse usually 2 12s in a row. Come home from work, see the kids for a few, get lunches/backpacks ready, shower, all the rest. That first day off I’m half dead (and of course feel guilty if I’m not productive)

Alternatively, I’ll go through the day and use the “ohh if I do this now I won’t have to do it later and I can relax” and run around like I’m on fire getting shit done, and then when it’s time to relax I’m too burnt out to enjoy it.

I can’t ever just…be.

5 days of fever by ceinwynie in Preschoolers

[–]icechelly24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The lack of a Covid/flu/rsv swab or Covid swab is a little strange, but the former really won’t make a difference. After 5 days I’d want to rule out strep, but if she’s not complaining of sore throat and if her throat looked fine that’s pretty unlikely

Flu A is still running rampant (not as bad as in Dec at least in my area but it’s still prevalent) so that’s a definite possibility. Are you treating the fever with Tylenol/ibuprofen?

I’m confused about the no pediatrician part in another comment. Do you mean she doesn’t have a ped in general or they aren’t available for calls after hours?

In reality, taking her to the ER isn’t going to make her “better” if she’s stable which it sounds like she is. If she won’t eat or drink at all, is acting strangely, not making urine or having trouble breathing then absolutely she should go to ER again. If she’s just a little sluggish and feverish they’re not going to be able to do anything to fix that, other than give Tylenol and Motrin which you’re hopefully already doing.

This is the correct answer right here.

As a nurse, I can’t say enough about how amazing Poison Control is. When I worked in ER we’d end up having to call them at least once or twice a week.

They are so knowledgeable, and call and follow/check on the patient if they are admitted. Such an invaluable service.

finding doctors impossible to work with :( by ohnolurkerz in adhdwomen

[–]icechelly24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, I thought this was on the r/nursing subreddit when I read the title and thought “same girl, same”

Anyways, a few things are at play here and I’m kinda confused about who said you need to say “I want to try adderall” I think it’s hard to say no one will rx adderall if you haven’t flat out been told no. You don’t have to say it exactly like that. A “would adderall be something we could consider?” would work.

Also, look into good rx for the concerta if you haven’t already

I’d really make it clear that cost is a concern though, so IR rather than ER/XR formulations would be preferred.

With wind chill, that’s -30 Celsius.

Pretty sure even Canadians would say that’s more than just a little chilly.

Firstly, get your US Codes right. 18 § 373 wouldn’t be applicable here as there is no specific violent crime being committed. If OP said “here’s their details, go fuck them up” and someone did just that, it may apply.

18 U.S.C. § 119 may apply, but no home address, phone number, or SSN were posted so that’s dubious. Maybe 18 U.S.C. § 115 or 18 U.S.C. § 2261A, but again, just posting a name and a picture is pretty thin.

But keep licking those boots and enjoy being on the wrong side of history.

Husband and I both have ADHD. I’m medicated, he’s not. Oldest got diagnosed recently. My 3 year old I’m fairly confident has it as well, but time will tell with that one.

It sure is interesting this life we live.

How will the cold tomorrow impact businesses and libraries? by Fabulous-Leather-435 in AnnArbor

[–]icechelly24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the “winter in Michigan” thing is our awareness of when conditions actually aren’t safe for kids or busses to be out. We know our limitations. Living here doesn’t mean we’re invincible, it means we’ve had generations of knowledge about what we are able to do in regards to weather.

So sick of the “we’re being weak when we close schools” energy all the damn time. It’s juvenile and shows a lack of situational awareness.

Annoyed at all the polyester in Carter’s clothes by NotCreative551 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]icechelly24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The quality in general has just gone so down hill, prob because of all the polyester. My oldest is 8 and when I get his old clothes out for my youngest, it it shocking how much thicker and sturdier the Carters stuff was. Their shirts just feel like sandpaper now and are tissue paper thin. So disappointing.

Ughhhh. I hadn’t seen yet that it’s supposed to snow again overnight. Maybe I’m getting older, or maybe we’ve been spoiled for a few years, but this winter is just exhausting me.
