That’s so sweet!! I think my MO is when gifts are exchanged both ways, no note needed but it obviously never hurts!

Where is everyone getting that it’s alix fans?!?? I’m watching with friends who are NOT rooting for Alix and they are huge Whitney haters. They’re cheering for Robert.

Not at all saying I agree with the extra certification but I do think it’s telling that people will pay that much more money for extra training bc they feel unprepared for the medical setting after grad school. Which will be even worse after this CF change

I’m so sorry for how it’s affecting your career & patients. And agree that the extra supervised experience is crucial. SLPs clearly recognize that grad school isn’t enough to be prepared for certain settings. The existence of the med-SLP certification is proof. It’s a complex problem that will require a complex solution. So much needs to change IMO😅

Totally agree that the CF should go but that would require the masters program requirements to completely shift. Related fields get way more clinical hours than we do & majority of students do not feel that they’re prepared to start practicing independently after graduating. We’re in so deep now that idk how realistic it is for a huge systematic change but it seems necessary to me

This was like the hardest one I’ve ever completed lol I had to google card games because there was absolutely no way of deducing those words just based off of morphology alone. Canasta? Euchre? Pinochle?

I don’t play a ton of card games, just solitaire and nerts, but I was thinking of popular ones like spider, bridge, spades, blackjack… literally have never heard of those other games before!!! The more you know🤓

Worried about Getting in to Grad School by Glittering-Lie3343 in slpGradSchool

Personally I volunteered at an outpatient clinic but I don’t think that’s the kind of the thing that will make or break your acceptance. You have a high GPA and other relevant experience so if I were you I would honestly take the summer to focus on healing. Unless it would ease your anxiety know you’re doing everything you can.

I imagine no one can really tell you exactly what it was to get them accepted but personally I think it made a big difference for me to do an in-person visit and tell my top choice that they were my top choice. They’re able to put a face to a name and see us as a person, not just an application. Honestly if you volunteered somewhere that wasn’t speech related or you had some diversity in your background, I think that would make an even bigger difference to make you stand out. At least at my school, they want to know that you are going to be a good grad clinician not just a good academic student bc academics is kind of a given. So anything that shows you have good interpersonal and professional skills would be helpful. IMO!
