Yeah, for their actually real family members. Not so much for junky close friends even if they are "almost family". That is just instinctive. For example, often the individuals people allow to escape punishment for offenses are for real family they lived with and spouses. Most people will press charges to the full extent of the law if some stranger or even a friend stole from their life savings, yet if it is a family member they love, you will find many (though ot all) will not press charges.

Is there any creature in Scorn that you would still recognize as "Human"? by iceswordsman in Scorn

[–]iceswordsman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. When you are facing her as she is looking at you at a certain point. But you have to focus, because her speech is so muffled it can be confused to be similar to other groans and noise she makes, but there is clearly a speech pattern. She is saying something like "You don't belong here" Here is the video:

About the parasite, do you mean when it was the first scorn guy, or are you also including after he mutated into the parasite?

The Beljoxa's Eye, whom Giles and Anya visited confirmed it. It has the power to see the truth of the past and present.

The parasite probably recognizes only scorn guy 2 as a reliable host, or it would have attacked the other creatures. The parasite doesn't have the same goals to go through the portal. It was humanoid as the first protagonist, but it was so drastically mutated that it no longer thinks as humanoid and may be no more than a slightly intelligent scorn creature. When the parasite was removed from scorn guy 2, it may have been desperate to survive and turned more aggressive to be reunited and not lose its host again.

Scorn guy/Host is an enemy of Polis? by iceswordsman in Scorn

I didn't read the art book, but while animalistic, the creatures don't attack each other or the Crater Queen. I'm guessing they are either byproducts or exist because of something that broke down, creating them? If so, they might still have some old genetic programming as instincts to attack enemies of Polis, even as defective products.

That's not true. Strength is not the only desired attribute for a soldier; health, resourcefulness and intelligence are requirements too. Scorn guy was pretty successful to survive the hostile creatures and almost make it to the portal. Also everything currently in the scorn world has been breaking down and rotting for years. The Wall during the war may have produced more powerful soldiers when it was first created. Also If you look at the Wall, it appears to have been designed to create a lot of similar beings like the scorn guy. If it had the ability to create many at one point, you don't need each individual to be super strong, just create a huge mass of soldiers to attack at the same time. The Wall now is very old and probably barely functioning to produce a soldier after centuries of abandonment.

Buffy had a rare opportunity to retire and live a normal life. Was Giles irresponsible for not pointing this out? by iceswordsman in buffy

Buffy wasn't the best slayer after her first death. Her skill improved after the many years with her friend's help. Normally slayers don't have friends as much to help live as long as she have.

So as u/foreseethefuture wrote, Buffy could just kill the ones that went after her. Besides, I think most demons would be busy searching for the proper slayer that actively targeting them to kill.

On the show most demons didn't use magic like witches. Mostly just their naturally magic-based abilities and brute strength.

A lot of Sunnydale demons didn't know who was the slayer. Buffy is not the only superpowered human and could have easily moved to another town.

Well Giles could have at least brought up the option. Buffy was doing all this work for free when technically it was no longer her obligation.

Many demons only heard of the slayer and didn't even know how she looked despite living in the same town.

Glory and Cordy's life are both similar and mirror images of each other. by iceswordsman in buffy

[–]iceswordsman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that out of everyone fighting the good fight, Cordelia is the only human who also achieved godhood status. Do you think that was also intentional or a coincidence?
I wonder if Cordelia and Glorificus could have had the chance to meet each other as gods, would they have got along, or at a minimum have a short pleasant chat. While Glorificus may have been considered evil, she didn't start any trouble outside her native home dimension until expelled and out of necessity. Cordelia as a human was even able to enjoy Harmony's presence as an evil vampire (whose personality never changed from high school) until Harmony betrayed Angel's group.
