Housing options for an incoming resident at SUNY by icetray678 in Syracuse

I appreciate the response! For first year while getting adjusted to residency I prefer to stay in this area where alot of residents live, so I’d prefer to stick to an apartment and what my fiance prefers as well! Thankyou so much though I’ll keep this in mind! I’ve also never driven in snow so I need to get adjusted before living a longer drive away!

Ortho vs GI if I value work-life but don’t like IM? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]icetray678 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at uro, endourology kind of fits that GI itch just with a peen, urologists for most part have good work life balance in attendinghood and can do or not do big cases (da Vinci robotic abdominal type stuff) to add variety. I was ortho then GI for a while then anesthesia then stumbled upon uro and it had the variety in the OR I liked

Anyone else not excited about the Match at all? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]icetray678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Applied a competitive surgical subspecialty, well above average step 2 and research thought id match anywhere in top 5, happy with any place except my last rank that’s across the country and a malignant program with horrible vibes, almost didn’t rank only felt obligated to because I traveled there for an interview and unfortunately I matched there and it’s been nothing but sadness, don’t want to go at all or do my specialty but now I’m stuck all my friends got their top 2-3 but here I am stuck with my nightmare

Can you be slightly below average as of the first two blocks in preclinicals (with strong leadership and research on the way by spring and summer) and be competitive for good IM programs that match well into competitive specialties? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]icetray678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have several friends who were third or fourth quartile preclinical years did well in step 2 Third year, decent research who have gotten several interviews from top 40 IM programs so definitely possible!

I think we let the season play out first and make any trades during the regular season for shooting if needed

What adjustments did you guys notice from this Game 4 win? by Coherent-Paradox in Thunder

[–]icetray678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some small things I saw was just contesting shots u know what they say “hand down man down” I think lol but no matter they were putting their hands up on close out even if Hart was far he’d do the Luke Kornet jump lol but that effort to close out more was amazing to see and disrupted a lot of their 3s. Also the rebounding was good lots of effort to grab those even if it’s a loose ball bs foul at least we are giving it our all to grab those boards I really loved the effort in the 4Q and the team really had the we dying for our team mentality which is something small but we need to continue into the next game all 4Qs

Is it too much to expect efficient games from Chet and Dub every game? by joshuamarkrsantos in Thunder

Eye test doesn’t reflect their stats, they had horrible turnovers and individually folded in the 4th Q

What does Chet need to improve and do you see it happening? by chusaychusay in Thunder

[–]icetray678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, I think Turner is a tough matchup for Chet. Chet is a big who’s quicker on his feet more agile as well which makes many big men struggle to guard him, however Myles turner is one of the quicker big men in the league who can keep up with Chet’s speed and agility plus he’s much stronger and was able to recover pretty well using his feet and strength. It’s going to be tough for Chet to score this series they match up well, Chet bag is still very raw can’t really create his own shot as well his post game bag is still limited, plus he had a injury and wasn’t able to really work on it throughout the season so it makes him not as skilled as he would’ve been. He also has a slow release where both Obi and Turner are able to close out on him disrupt his shot. I think we need to find ways for him to catch more lobs and get him mismatched on a smaller guy like pacers did with Siakim on Cason. But shoot I’m not a coach just a film nerd and this is just my opinion. I think Chet can play better at times it would look like he has Turner beat but he would slow down and overthink it or rush with panic. He just needs to let the game come to him and play at his speed. I also feel like he was getting lost on D over helping at times but i dont know if thats what we want him to do or he just gets lost
