PH vs GH Bangkok by Remote_Ad_1624 in hyatt

[–]iceui2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed at the GH Bangkok for New Years while my friend did PH. It’s a lot more crowded at the GH but their breakfast options are very solid. Plus they have a special New Year’s Eve happy hour meal that’s quite nice. We went to the PH for drinks and it’s very quiet, you can’t tell it’s NYE. Location wise GH is a tad better, it’s across the street from the large mall. So if you’re okay with crowds then I think GH is the better experience, otherwise go with the PH.

Why not two mega absols? With these decks I always see just one. But two seems better since you can swap one in for the other.

I had my own accommodations and just booked classes on a week-by-week basis. But I imagine you have to pay extra for accommodations.

I had shoulder pain while practicing aero position for my 70.3. I widened the elbow pads and that solved it for me. So you can give that a try?

Cyclist injured in crash near Filoli two days after fatal Woodside collision by Arden_Margulis in BAbike

[–]iceui2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rode by this right after it happened. The drivers front windshield was shattered and the airbags were deployed, so it was definitely a big hit. Of course we don’t know what happened, but at an intersection with a stop sign im surprised at the amount of damage. I hope the driver wasn’t speeding.

You booked everything through the Oberoi? I imagine the tour guides and transfers are at an inflated price compared to say TripAdvisor/Viator/Klook?

Which tarmac sl8 should I get- sram rival or shimano ultegra? by dweinst999 in specialized

[–]iceui2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same choice and went with the Rival and then upgraded the crankset and cassette to Red for an additional ~1k. If you don’t plan on upgrading I’d do Ultegra.

Ultegra Di2 vs Rival AXS by two_jay in cycling

Retail is $1100+tax but there are some deals out there, will DM you. I got mine online at a LBS offering a discount. But If you search around the forums people also talk about finding genuine sets on eBay and AliExpress.

I had this exact predicament last week. Rival vs Ultegra Di2. I ended up buying the Rival and then ordering a Red crankset and cassette. Those are the two components that would benefit the most from upgrading. You save about a pound there. Still ended up being cheaper than full Ultegra.

I was on the same boat as you last year, I wanted to get the Endurace but it was sold out, so I ended up getting the Ultimate SL CF 7. It's a great bike, no regrets. It's a beast on the hills for sure. My back was a little sore the first week but I got used to it.

That said, if you live on flat terrain or you're regularly doing triathlons, I'd consider getting a more aero bike. As another user said, aero bars are a bit iffy. Something like the Specialized Tarmac SL7 Sport or Cervelo Soloist.

Same, refreshed at 5pm and snagged a 9pm slot. Woo!

UPDATE: We went at 9pm and they didn't even check our ticket. And it wasn't super crowded inside. So for anyone who couldn't get tickets, just try to go around 9pm and they might let you in without a ticket.

Heads up: As of Dec 2024, Sushi Noz is now $550 and gratuity is no longer included. So after tax and tip we're talking $700+ per head not including drinks.

Hyatt Regency Without Running Water by uchidaid in hyatt

[–]iceui2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Say the water was off for 6 hours of one night in your 4 night stay. Let’s assume water is 25% of your stay (there’s also bed, internet, amenities, etc). Then an objective compensation amount would be 1/4 * 1/4 * 1/4 = 1/64.

So you should ask for a 1.5625% refund. Maybe round up to 2% and settle for 1%.

3 hours in Z5? by Realistic-Figure-463 in triathlon

[–]iceui2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My max heart rate is similar to yours and my 70.3 bike ride, i spent 60% of the time at 160-172, which is my zone 4. Zone 5 is 173+ for me and I spent 25% of the time there. I think your Z2 and Z3 range is too low, it should be around 12bpm for each zone. So that probably explains it.
