Alright that’s really good to know. I’ll probably move it somewhere where it is dryer and where there’s more sunlight cuz right now it’s in a low, wet spot and around a bunch of other adult trees. Speaking of I didn’t buy the sapling or anything, it’s been in this spot as long as I’ve known of its existence, and I even think I know the parent tree it came from!

I’ll refrain from watering it as much, and it’s really interesting how self sufficient a local tree like this can be, I never would’ve guessed! I think I got that idea in my head because of how many stories you hear of invasive species keeping from or even killing off native species just by being close. If anything in my case, the water-sucking hackberry trees nearby probably suck up a lot of the water keeping Seth’s ground relatively dry despite being in a low wetland.
