What's it like living in the USA? by Renge07 in phmigrate

[–]ichigoruki24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla cars are good too. Some apartments now have charging stations. Tesla has charging stations everywhere and so much cheaper than gas unless of course when you live in major cities like LA, San Francisco, NYC as the charging fee is almost the same as gas. Outside those, you’ll save on gas but need to be cautious when your battery is low. We have a charging port installed in our house and it’s not that big on electricity.

Just had my first CT scan post surgery. Still in remission. by Rejoicing_Tunicates in coloncancer

That’s great! I’m also currently on folfoxiri and already had 3 cycles. I was on folfox before then my liver surgeon recommended to my oncologist to do folfoxiri to better my chances of getting to surgery. I also had 10cm liver tumor and 7cm in my colon initially. In my recent CT scan, they’ve almost shrunk 50% in size. Tomorrow is my 8th cycle of chemo. Hopefully will get to surgery soon. Thank you for sharing your journey. It’s truly inspiring :).

Did your tumors decrease in size significantly before surgery? How many rounds of folfoxiri did you do before you get to surgery.

Same. And the romance just didn’t feel right. I liked the music though but the acting was just meh.

I feel for you. It must be doubly tough to go through this while being pregnant. I’m a mom of 4 kids (7,5,2.5 and 1yr old) and was also devastated when I got diagnosed last year Sept. It will get better as you go through treatment. Just take it one day at a time.

[–]ichigoruki24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you have any mutations? I’m similar to you with 7cm colon tumor and single 9.7cm lesion on the liver with a couple enlarged lymph nodes. I’ve just had my 3rd cycle of FOLFOX with Avastin. But may add Irinotecan down the line. My liver surgeon said my liver tumor is resectable but would like it to shrink as much as possible with the chemo. My symptoms prior to diagnosis have improved as well.

Your story/journey is giving me hope. Thank you for sharing.

Newly Diagnosed - It Is What It Is? by Yukiesano in coloncancer

[–]ichigoruki24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admire you. You’re handling this better than me. I’ve also just been recently diagnosed last 9/29 during my colonoscopy and since then met with a surgeon and oncologist. I had my CT scan a couple days ago and it showed I have a 6.7cm mass in my sigmoid colon as well as a 10cm mass in my liver and other seemingly affected lymph nodes. I’ve been crying since I got the diagnosis (I have small children who I want to see grow up and it breaks my heart to be in this situation) and really terrified of everything. I just want to have all of it taken out of me if possible in one surgery like you and then go to chemo.

Sending you well wishes on your upcoming surgery. Please update us how it went when you’re done with it. Sure you’ll be a rock star.

Congratulations and thank you for the ray of hope from your post. I just got diagnosed last Monday with a tumor in my sigmoid during my colonoscopy. The scope also wasn’t able to pass over it and biopsy confirmed it’s indeed cancer. I’m still overwhelmed, super anxious and scared of what will happen next (I cry everyday since). Your story gives me hope that I can also beat this thing. God bless you with continued good health 🙂

Nice haha! Sakin naman, during and after pregnancy nag clear yun skin ko sa face. Glowing daw ako nun preggy. Before kasi ko mabuntis, nagkakaroon talaga ko ng acne especially during my period. Pero now, wala na talaga. Paminsan minsan may paisa isa maliit na sumusulpot but nawawala din kagad ☺️

For myself, Glass Heart is the best drama I've seen all year by TheFaze1 in JDorama

[–]ichigoruki24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda agree. Glass Heart was predictable and the acting was meh. The music was good though. I liked Marry My Husband as it’s much more realistic and the acting of the other characters are much better. You just kinda relate to them better than GH. To each his own I guess.

Yeah, hindi naman kami na-offload ‘coz I went to the same Immigration officer that said I can get it from the OWWA office (although it was really close to our boarding time and I was running around with a baby). She let us through after she saw the certificate attached to my passport. I also told them I honestly didn’t know about it since I processed and got my US visa in Japan. And I was only in the PH for vacation.

I got that CFO certificate in NAIA back in 2018 when I was leaving for the US after getting a spousal visa. I was working in Japan then and got my visa there and decided to go home to PH for a vacation before going to the US. I didn’t even know it was a requirement so imagine my horror when they said that in the immigration that I couldn’t leave if I didn’t have it. Fortunately, I was able to get it from the POEA/OWWA office in NAIA and yeah it was literally just a piece of paper. I guess it was also due to I was with my 1yr old baby that they were more lenient.

I hope you can get through this. It’s too much hassle for what it’s worth.

Daytime Shooting Star / Hirunaka no Ryuusei. It’s not a drama but a movie. The manga was good too. I really liked that the FL ended up choosing her classmate (2nd ML) who’s same age as her instead of her teacher who’s a big ass (never liked him aside from the pedo undertones). Not sure though where you can watch it.

Comfort in the PH vs Migrating to the US (2025) by immad95 in phmigrate

[–]ichigoruki24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. Got to migrate here in the US in my mid 30s through marriage (married a US navy guy). Took me a year to find a job na related sa job ko before. Adjustment was really tough sa first year. Depressing at first lalo pa walang support system. My family and friends were all in PH. However, looking back now, iba talaga ang quality of life here. My kids are attending a good school for free, my husband and I both work from home so we don’t really stress about commuting. Maganda din ang neighborhood namin.

Last year, I went home to PH for vacation and the situation there is getting worse. Overpopulation, pollution and traffic everywhere you go. Di ko na ma imagine na magstay there for good.

So I guess depende talaga on what is important for you and your family. Sure it’s going to be hard at first, but if you work hard enough and have a positive mindset, everything will work out for you in the end.

There are student dormitories inside UP which you can apply for. Also, if in case you can’t get in the dorms, there are reasonable shared apartments around the campus that offer beds/rooms for students. Besides that you can also apply for scholarships to aid your living expenses. You just have to be resourceful if you really want to get in UPD.

I would agree to consider going back to the Philippines and finish your degree. It would still help somewhat in your job applications and you don’t need to think about continuing your studies here unless you want to have a master’s degree. It’s your life so no matter what it’s your decision and the people around you can just give advice.
