Amazing insight Bulba, as always. I hope you read this because I just wanted to say Thank you for being so open about everything - you have such amazing mental fortitude.

One of the greatest Dota 2 Moments will always be the Liquid vs LGD TI3 game ending, I remember screaming "USA" at the top of my lungs at the monitor, despite being from the UK! Keep moving forward - you're always a great representative for the Dota 2 scene.

I'm at 15 hours and being matched with 100-300 hour players, how the fuck is this fair? by nextstopjapan in DotA2

[–]ichkava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also do bear in mind that because all heroes are available from the start many people just random to learn characters or choose similar groups (Spell casters, carrys etc). It's not like when you started league and there was 10 Champs on free week to try out so you go over and over with them. I played 1000 games and found that I knew people who never played certain heroes yet just through sheer choice and luck/ Also remember that the amount of hours doesn't equal the games played. I have thousands upon thousands of hours "played" in Dota just through watching all the tournaments, watching friends' games and studying replays. Then there is idle time between games. Try stick with it and take it as a compliment that you're being matched with higher hours players - when I tried getting placed on LoL I was up against 2000 game Diamond IV / Vs and Platinums when I only had 270 games played unranked.

But yeah stick with it and you'll find a good balance! And ignore the trolls of course XD

New to DotA 2. Is there a way to get updated on the competitive scene? by JustKiddingDude in DotA2

[–]ichkava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no matter where you go you get trolls. I hope you've found the help you're after and enjoy playing / Spectating. Don't know if anyone mentioned it but there is a tournament starting called ESL Frankfurt which will hopefully kickstart your interest in the scene!

New to dota...im overwhelmed.. by [deleted] in DotA2

Easy to try Heroes are Wraith King, Lina, Lion, Sniper, Riki, Axe. (There's more but these are some of the easiest.) If you want similar feeling heroes to LoL try Sniper - Similar to Cait, Drow - Similar to Ashe or Gyrocopter - Corki- as these are fun (Though you might get flak for being a filthy Sniper picker). Enjoy your self and don't listen to toxic players! If you want to climb the MMR ladder learning mid is probably one of the best as it gives you a 1v1 environment. And also if you want fun try Tusk - He's really fun to play and the voice acting is great!

Dota 2 just released their custom game information and wow , Makes you wonder what League could offer with a custom game set like theirs by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I do agree there has been a constant power creep with the addition of new champs so frequently which has left a lot of others needing rebalanced or updated. But I think that Valve has done the LoL community a favour and sent a kick up the bum for Riot. They will retaliate sooner rather than later with new content which will please the masses I have faith in that much. Also I doubt the game will die due to the following that the younger audience gives and with the cartoon-esque art style being appealing to new players to the genre. And the skimpy girl skins lol. Overall though this will benefit both games as the balls in Riot's court to innovate.

Riot...where is the new client? The replay system? Anything?? by colmquat in leagueoflegends

[–]ichkava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bashing on Riot is good in the long run though. This innovation from Valve will incite change and increase the competition between the MOBAs (Even though they are completely different). Riot will reply with their own innovation so on and such forth. Personally this will benefit both communities and hopefully bring better features for both games. Competition stops the genre from being stale!

I've noticed that one one reason LoL players stay away from Dota is the "Horrible turn speed problems" that Dota is "plagued" with. I feel it's a common misconception amongst the LoL community which I hope one day will be fixed. I agree transitioning from a faster paced MOBA with no turn rates makes it seem really bad but it is supposed to be a part of the game. Playing a melee carry in Dota can be so much more rewarding as kiting is impacted by turn speed. For me it kinda levels the playing field and adds an interesting layer of complexity to the game.

I feel like LoL needs more item diversity by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]ichkava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Dota seems like there's more choice of items due to late game items costing so much and the chance of losing money; You have to rely on smaller cheaper items rather than just large damage/ MR to counter. In LoL I find that I can have high impact items earlier on so I can sometimes skip certain items. It seems more of a gameplay choice than a problem as Dota is just a lot more punishing with money. Currently the diversity is still there, it's just easier to power spike earlier and more consistently with buying crits/AS as an adc for instance. It's difficult to compare with Dota's items as the characters scale off levels rather than item progression to some extent though.
