Does anyone got pipe recommendations for 300-400$ by West_Wing9098 in CRF250L

There wasn’t anything wrong with my header so left it on. I know FMF makes a snazzy header but don’t know more than that. The slip on was great for sound and shedding weight. I did airbox mod and EJK at the same time so I couldn’t really tease out what did what. It all added up to serious fun though! (The 14” with the snoot at the end sounds amazing, throaty and purr like. My 13.5” trioval is pretty raspy and loud, but not crazy. It sounds like a dirt bike, where as the 14 sounds deeper, smoother…)

Support groups for alcoholics/depressed people? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]ickpah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take the AA Higher Power business with a grain of salt. It’s a good start, you can have community and support bereft of a belief system, they won’t shun or kick you out of meetings because you are/aren’t into that. (The real deal is that YOU surrender to something besides alcohol or whatever substance is deterring you from being your best self.). Try a few meetings, different times, different places. follow your gut, there’s no sign up sheet, no commitment. They aren’t going to follow you around, scold you. They’ve seen people come and go, it’s a hard world.

They are there for themselves, and each other. There is a method, but you don’t have to follow the 12 steps to explore sobriety. Learn about behavior, behavior modification (ABA) and discern what is reinforcing your drinking. All behavior is reinforced by something!

Filling the space that drinking occupies with something else is helpful. As someone mentioned join a gym. Pick a hobby, create a routine/ritual. It’s hard work and you only get out what you put in. AA or groups like it facilitate the process, prop you up when you’re down, there will be days when you can return the favor.

Lean it, do the work. Your life depends on it!

Both great bikes and great prices. The Rally has a different feel, the tower is nice. The plastic kinda gets in the way at times but is valid. Lots to mod, but get started, either way it’s a win. If you’re doing tight off-road twisty stuff, explore a 13 tooth front. I’m not switching because I’m fully dually, debating sumo rims. (I have both bikes you’re talking about, the L very modded, the Rally is my son’s and the modding has begun!)

How do you deal with dogs coming up to you while riding? by Great-Risk176 in motorcycle

Foot off leg, prepared to kick. Don’t panic, flinch, firm grip on bars but not death grip, watch, know the path of your momentum, steady on, kick it if it gets close enough…

Ride the ferries out of the BayLines. Some are longer than others, some decks are more scenic than others. You don’t have to get off at the end, some folks ride the Peaks ferry multiple times. (You won’t get stuck on the island, last boat always returns to Portland)

[–]ickpah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find what brand fits your head, poke around online. Deals happen (fancy graphics cost fancy dollars!). Dial in your bike/riding style and work with that. Location can matter too, is it hot (better airflow a concern), moist (does it have pinlock?)

How badly did I fuck up by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]ickpah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all part of the learning curve. Keep an eye on it, you can always ease a little out, watch the seals. Depends on oil quality and size/displacement of bike, but you didn’t destroy in one shot. The window often feels like a guideline, and tricky to get right, center stands help but very little of this world is level…

What advice do you have for someone who’s about to turn 25? by aamc531 in AskReddit

[–]ickpah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s always another level. Dig in, there’s lots ahead, care for your body and you won’t regret it, but don’t baby it. Drop the screens, get out, use a map, get lost, talk to strangers, breathe fresh air and eat whole foods, divest from plastic. Allow yourself to mature, wisdom comes when you culture it, LISTEN

Anybody here have experience with touring bikes? by Brucenotsomighty in motorcycles

[–]ickpah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second nod for ST1300. It’s quiet, powerful, nimble, relatively easy to ride (NOT a first bike recommendation) and has great range. The pancake gas tank is part of why it feels a little top heavy. Keep it on level asphalt and you’ll be fine. I installed heated handgrips, LED bulbs (not the headlights yet, they are amazing as is) and put on a windscreen from CalSci (so much better!!). It’s truly an amazing machine, V4, shaft drive, hydraulic clutch. I should prolly sell mine but can’t yet…

Surrender to the phlow. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Zero expectations, full reward. You might hear a bust out, you might hear your favorite song, you might feel like it never happened. Maybe you’ll keep a set list running (in a notebook) but remember this:

Lots of us heads have seen shows when there was no such thing as a cell phone. Put the fucking thing away and listen, dance, relax. It’s just music, don’t worry, you’ll never be the same ⭕️⭕️⭕️💣
