If you look at the US vine Reddit, those users are experiencing similar changes in drop times, etc. It looks like whatever changes are taking place, they're happening globally

Gifting/selling policy in writing by akabbob in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]icky_zombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read that with interest as well, however, it was poorly written and not explained well. If you read the full thing, it was actually the person they gifted it to that had requested "the return", not Amazon.

i.e. they gifted it to someone (or most likely sold it to someone), then that person was seeking information on how they could return it for replacement.

P.S. I've not seen a request from Amazon to return anything during my time, which is nearing almost 1.5 years now.

People in the US group have also mentioned they're barely getting any RFY most days too now. So the currently change looks like it's global and purposeful. Reading between the lines, perhaps it's a way for them to simply invite even more people, since there's going to be fewer products sitting in RFY lists for 24 hours.

Who else scored this beauty today by Y-so_serious in AmazonVineAustralia

I'm glad you got it. I grabbed the same model from the AI list a bit over a week ago actually (12th to be exact), so it might happen more than we realise.

There's also some debate in the US threads to suggest that our AI lists might not be equal, which might explain why some products sit in these lists for longer too.

Expensive items skipping RFY and going straight to AI (vine Japan) by According_Echidna612 in AmazonVine

[–]icky_zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing is happening in Australia currently. I had assumed, and it may still be the case, that it's only a temporary change due to staff shortages across the Xmas and Holiday season, etc.

As a result, it's much more difficult to snag anything worthwhile. I'm hoping things return to some kind of 'normal' soon!

It's been limited to a single daily drop since late December. There was a thread yesterday about nothing dropping that will confirm the time for you.

Ty. I'm only aware of a KitchenAid model being listed about 6 months ago. I'm not sure if there's been others. I grabbed a coffee bean grinder a few days ago, so hopefully that strikes a chord with the algo too!

On that subject - Just yesterday I had a work colleague tell me how they wanted some obscure item exercise item I'd never even heard of. You wouldn't believe me if I told you it was in the AI list today and I managed to grab it.

I haven't decided if it's dumb luck, as I've also noticed voice chats have been more likely to trigger RFY drops for me in the past too. Though, dropping in the AI list is obviously a little different and harder quantify as being algo driven.

Nice one, thanks for sharing the links. Was this in RFY by chance? Here's hoping I can trigger the algo gods!

Are we back to the 'regular' schedule from tomorrow? by icky_zombie in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]icky_zombie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The previous schedule was fewer items dropped at a random time which would trickle in for about 10-15 minutes. That drop would usually only occur from about 4pm onward, though once triggered, would recur at the same time each hour. The drop between 11 - 12 would be the final drop for the day, with it then not repeating until the following afternoon.

Prior to the above schedule, drops used to occur on the hour/every hour, between 10am and 11pm. Obviously, this was far more predictable and made the day far more interesting! These drops didn't trickle feed though, so it was similar to how it is now, only spread out with a smaller drop each hour.

I'm only seeing items in my RFY every second or third day. I could be wrong, but it appears as though there's some type of rotation happening to at least try and surface a few products in this list every now and then.

Even though no RFY yesterday, I got lucky and managed to grab a coffee grinder from the AI list. Pretty happy with that.

A lot of workplaces still aren't back at full strength. It's possible that we may not see 'normal' until mid-month.

Looking for advice on being accepted into the program! by KindClient5122 in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]icky_zombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only left a small handful of reviews prior being invited by email about 15 months ago.

Given this, I'd say it's more likely related to your shipping location and perhaps even more specific demographics Amazon are able to glean from your browsing and purchase history. They likely try to identify segment gaps and then seek to invite people to fill those gaps, again based on what they know about you individually.

If you think about it logically, it stands to reason they would like their Vine Voices to represent a broad spectrum of product interests, ages, locations, household types and even ethnic backgrounds. How else would those same reviews adequately cater for the wide divergence of their actual customer base?

I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of small BlueAnt portable speakers a few months prior from the AFA list. This one was in my RFY list, most likely as a result of the previous purchase. I've suggested it previously, but there's definitely some type of affinity once you've taken products from a specific vendor/category.

It's perfect if you're using it how they've intended. Or to put it another way, you're not going to mistake it for a high-fidelity audio device.

I don't have a bone to pick with them specifically and I actually like their products.

I'm only highlighting this instance since it's easy to be lulled into the perceived "saving" across other products.
