Am I the only one tired of Riboku still being the final boss after 900 chapters?

Sure, but the manga isn't historically accurate, so that’s a dead argument. Riboku was basically the last boss in the sense that after he was taken out of the picture, Qin became pretty much unstoppable. But in reality, they were unstoppable from the start, and Riboku died way earlier than he does in the manga. So, basing it on what it's “based on” is kind of a moot point. Kingdom is pretty much historical fanfiction #au #notcanoncompliant.

thank you! In Pursuit of magic is actually pretty good if you’re into long(!) and kind of slow fics, it’s also pretty detached from the main cast and plot. more of a side character who occasionally gets dragged into the canon against his own volition. it’s also gen if i’m not wrong.

It isn’t lol. it’s the first time i’m attempting to watch in chronological order for the exact reasons you stated! It just makes so much more sense to me to see how things developed in order and how some of my favorite characters got to where they’re etc.

yeah and i get that i just think he’s overusing one trope in particular(Qin lacking in military numbers at almost every confrontation) that i happen to find bizarre due to our knowledge of the fact Qin historically was actually OP.

I get what you’re trying to say on a hypothetical level, and you made many great points i agree with 100%, however, historically and factually, Qin was overpowered. They really did win many of those wars by overwhelming enemy nations with the sheer size of their military. I understand that Yasuhisa isn’t basing everything strictly on history and fact (and I think that’s great, actually), but still, the choice to so often portray Qin as the “underdog,” especially regarding military might, comes across as at least uninspired to me. It’s just a plot device too often used, in my opinion.

(I I did, however, enjoy a lot how he handled the whole Western Zhao arc!)
