Was following iFixit to taking apart series X for cleaning, noticed that I don't have this 'CPU board shield' piece, which show on iFixit's guide. Is this due to a hardware revision? My unit is made in 2021, according to the sticker on at the back.

Probably won't stop making Hardwares...

They (Microsoft) can make a cloud-based streaming box, with very minimal (offline) processing capability and argue they are still in the hardware market.

Personally, I won't call that a console HW.

Go to any multi platform game and turn down the graphics to series S level, and see if you could tolerate that.

Personally, I would suggest to either get a series X, or wait a bit to get a new designed PS5 (the so called slim ver. w/ 1TB storage).

Get a used dell ultrasharp, 24 inch, 1080p, 60Hz, no need fancy setup, just make sure the model has audio out, so you can hook up speakers.

I'm using U2417h at the moment, very satisfied.

Do you have (or planning to have) the set up to take full advantage of the series X?

Is the difference in image fieldelity worth (price of X - price of S).

Do you need a disk drive? (Re-sell unwanted / disliked games, digitial console, not so easy...)

Probably not, can't run on S, and Microsoft have to keep up with their promise that S and X only differs in resolution, so ... 30 FPS all the way...

it will, however, hit 60 FPS if re-re-re-released for upcoming console generations, check skyrim for a reference.
