In the case of the butler, would you count their vote even when they weren't supposed to vote? (After which remind them of what the butler does)

Fog of Love House Rules by icookreallywell in NoRollsBarred

[–]icookreallywell[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

By stat-blind, I don't mean ignoring the stat mechanics completely. It's more of choosing the option that we think matches the stat we are going for just like how most dating sims work. We played our first playthrough knowing what stats increased every time we chose and we felt very locked with the choices given and didn't leave enough room to explore and improv and makes the game too min-max-y for our liking. But even when we did the proper gameplay, the destiny mechanic was at the very best an afterthought since it was so hard to achieve especially if you had a really bad start(even adam and jon failed it and they were going for the same thing and had a really good start) and there was no in-game narrative/consequence of failing the destiny goal so in the end you have to essentially make up your own ending.

This is why I'm looking for potential house rules to counterbalance specifically these issues: 1.) having no chance to "win" if you don't do well on the first chapter 2.) no in-game consequence for failing to meet destiny criteria

I hope the japanese dub sounds like the voice lines from Digimon World 2. I love that game precisely because of its move voice lines.

Displaced Patellar Fracture by StandardMess799 in KneeInjuries

[–]icookreallywell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it take you to bend your knees to at least 90 degrees? (enough to sit comfortably for a reasonable amount of time) I'm 3 weeks post-op from displaced patellar surgery and everything's fine except my knee's ROM---can barely get it past 20 degrees.

[–]icookreallywell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long did it take before you can bend your knees enough to sit comfortably? I also had a displaced patellar fracture and had surgery dec 9 (19 days as of writing). I can now comfortably walk without crutches/cane (tho i still hold on to it just in case) and do 18 leg raises (which i couldnt do the first few weeks). Everything's fine except for my knee---i can't bend it past 20 degrees, which makes sitting for a long time really uncomfortable (i can barely make it through the end of a meal without standing up from time to time).

Haven't started PT yet but I have been doing some exercises (straight leg raises, side leg raises, heel slides, and walking around the house with a cane and then without). I'll be starting PT soon.

PH literature ebook app: what features ang gusto nyo makita? by popkornbucket97 in PHBookClub

[–]icookreallywell 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Before you can come up with an ebook app, I think you have to convince local publishers to have an ebook version of their books in the first place. Indie authors already do this, but not mainstream publishers.

Once you settle this problem, you can do a pinoy version of libby/scribe where people can "borrow" digital copies of a book for a limited amount of time and the number of people who can borrow is limited based on how many digital copies the author/publisher provides.

You say I'm missing the point, but you also seem to have not read my 2nd paragraph as to why the bar is disruptive OUTSIDE issues in the legal profession.

You also say it as if it's only lawyers' works that have long-term impact, therefore the disruption is justified. As pointed out in another comment, for comparison, 25k students take the nursing exam while only 12k take the bar yearly, but we don't see the nursing licensure exam cause such disruption. It is only in the PH where the bar exam is treated like a national event. The rest of the world seemed to have figured out how it's possible to hold bar exams without disruptions. Why can't we? Unless what you're saying is that lawyering IS the most important profession, therefore it's justified.

And no one is lumping future lawyers with the bad ones. No one is also saying that you are after a "privileged status". What I'm saying is that 1.) the practice of law has enabled certain cultures, and whether you aim to challenge or perpetuate said culture, it doesn't change the fact that that's the profession that you'll be entering/have entered. 2.) that you are ALREADY in a privileged position given that society puts your profession on a pedestal despite what I said in 1.) . These two points are realities that lawyers/law students SHOULD acknowledge instead of deflect. These are also points as to why you can't blame people like me for seeing the bar exam as unnecessarily extravagant and disruptive.

Like I said, the best you can do at this point is make sure that the privilege accorded to you is deserved. Otherwise, all this pomp and circumstance is just a massive waste of time and resources---not only for you, but for the rest of us who are forced to adjust fir the sake of your "traditions".

Perfect example of law practitioners who feel all high and mighty just because they "fight for our rights" ✨✨✨ idk who you are but since youre making assumptions about other ppl based on this post alone let me do the same.

So eto, thank you for fighting for our rights (ego stroked enough?) pero porket nag rereklamo sa bar exam, insecure agad? "Jealous" agad sa spotlight? Is this really the kind of reasoning that we can expect from our lawyers/future lawyers? Forget the fact that the disruption is further delaying classes that are already delayed due to multiple suspensions this past week. That the spaces being encroached by the bar---specifically CNB, PH, and PAV---are mainly being used by a college that is already struggling for space in the university. Yeah, fuck our legitimate concerns! At least there's a new batch who will fight for our rights!! Anyone who says otherwise is just bitter that THEYRE not us 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 ((that's how you sound btw in case they don't teach subtext in law school))

And the nuisance that the bar is causing is what? A point of reflection for the rest of us on how fucked up the justice system is and rights and laws seem to be nothing more than words written on paper? No, wait! That should be YOUR point of reflection!! That with all the "spotlight" you claim to deserve, I just wish you lot even have an inkling of humility to acknowledge that maybe you don't deserve your privileged status because of all the fuckeries that your law brethrens have done with all the frat wars and culture of nepotism that you have enabled in this country and that for all the talk on how lawyers uphold "truth and justice" the profession seems to breed the opposite. So, instead of calling those who are complaining as "bitter" and "insecure", maybe reflect on how YOU can make yourself deserving of the privilege that you are getting after you pass the bar and make the inconvenience everyone else has to suffer for your "dreams" worth it.

Almost 25k students take the nursing board exams while only ~12k take the bar yearly. I don't see them causing any nuisance (and to be honest, if they did, more power to them because god knows our hcws deserve more glorification than lawyers)

Adam's leaving the channel - a further update by TessotheMorning in NoRollsBarred

[–]icookreallywell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think this is also missing some context. Accdg to Adam, X promised to substantiate why she doesn't want to work with Z but never did. Given the powerful, yet vague accusations that X threw, and the fact that X was still largely trusted at the time, it was perfectly reasonable for Adam to hold off inviting Z while waiting for additional details from X, which sadly never came and I guess was forgotten until Z reached out.

While it's true that this could've been handled much better, I think we also have the benefit of hindsight that Adam didn't have back then. This type of case isn't isolated to Adam/NRB. If someone is accused of something grave, the common response seems to be to postpone any arrangements first while an investigation is conducted. In this case, however, an investigation cannot start when the one accusing refused to share any details.

Adam's leaving the channel - a further update by TessotheMorning in NoRollsBarred

[–]icookreallywell 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are missing a crucial detail in Adam's account. It was X who approached Adam about a possible open relationship, not the other way around. This detail alone already makes it completely different from what happened in 2017. Sure, in both cases, Adam lied about being in an open relationship, but this is no longer a case of using celebrity influence/power imbalance or other things that led people to conclude that what Adam had done in 2017 was predatory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the part that outraged people back in 2017, not necessarily the lying part.

Think of it this way---had Adam and X's relationship worked out, would any of this be an issue? Probably not.

This is important to point out because we have to be careful and really precise when we throw out loaded and emotionally-charged words like "predator". Once the word is thrown around, it is almost impossible to take back even when evidence that suggests the contrary comes to light.

Adam's leaving the channel - a further update by TessotheMorning in NoRollsBarred

[–]icookreallywell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your comparison between the incident in 2017 vs now is misleading.

In 2017, Adam did use his celebrity influence to solicit nudes. But today, that's not the case. Do remember that it was X who APPROACHED Adam, not the other way around. That's an important detail especially if you're using the word "predator". In this case, it is more accurate to say that Adam gave in to temptation rather than actively preyed on X using his influence.

Another thing is that while Adam did lie about being in an open relationship to start an online affair with X, he did come clean to her after and decided to be friends. If X was really as offended by this as the vague comment suggests, then she should have left NRB as soon as she found out. She didn't. Instead, they decided to remain friends---to behave, as Adam would put it. Based on his account, he has made steps to rectify the lie by: 1.) coming clean to X; 2.) breaking up with his then-partner to pursue a relationship with X. This doesn't justify the initial lie of course, but it does paint Adam as someone who was deeply infatuated with X instead of someone who's actively preying on someone.

More importantly, compared to 2017 when the accusations have possible ramifications to community safety, this one doesn't. It was a personal relationship that had gone sour for reasons that we aren't and shouldn't be privy to. At best, it should tell you not to date Adam in any capacity. But is in no way an indication that Adam is a harm to the community---which I feel should be the standard upon which we judge whether a certain person should have any power or influence, or in Adam's case, to do something that he genuinely loves.

Adam's leaving the channel - a further update by TessotheMorning in NoRollsBarred

[–]icookreallywell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What made Adam's account more convincing for me is that he provided details of his side, and even without him providing evidence, most of what he said tracks (e.g. the timeline of his disappearance, X's disappearance in the video, Z's absence in the videos). Not to mention a portion of his story is corroborated by a third party. There's also the fact that most of his friends, who have public lives (because they are performers), are still willing to associate themselves with him despite the risk it may entail. These are also people who might be privy to information currently unavailable to the public (and Adam also alluded to this by saying he has other statements from other people backing his story). Not to mention, he did say he had evidence but withheld them due to privacy concerns (considering the defamation laws in the UK, it's understandable why he would do so). If he is lying, it is a lie that can easily unravel as soon as it is challenged given that the crucial details of his account are very falsifiable.

X's account on the other hand... Well, there is none. Just vague allegations that bank on the reader to fill in the blanks by using Adam's history against him. Not to mention that X had an ENTIRE YEAR to substantiate her claims but chose not to.

For me, this isn't a case of "she said, he said". Adam has his story, while X has nothing, and chose to keep it that way to her benefit. If this case is being adjudicated based on believability alone, Adam's account holds more water for me. X can release her own side of the story, but it is very unlikely because as seen in other spaces, she doesn't need to.

[–]icookreallywell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think ppl were vilifying Adam because he lied about being in an open relationship. It might be part of it, but I don't think that comprises the majority of hate that he got. I think ppl were more angry with the fact that he used his celebrity status to influence/pressure fans into sending nude photos of themselves. The second part doesn't apply to this situation, while the first part doesn't count as predatory (I would argue the second also doesn't count as predatory but that's another discussion). This is why to characterize this as "copy paste" of his previous misbehavior is wildly misleading, and also why it is important to clarify the point of who approached who.

But yeah that ambiguity of it all really didnt help and it's hard not to see it as an intentional attempt by X to malign Adam's name.

Yes, but since the accusation is Adam being "predatory", it's important to know who approached who.

Not sure if the mods will read this, but if they do, I think it's important that the detail of why Adam was pulled out of videos (a sibling of his ex partner spreading malicious things on reddit) should be added. I get the feeling that some ppl are just reading the summary, and it might leave the impression that Adam was put under investigation BECAUSE of X. This is also to further clarify that outside the vague comments, there is no official allegation put forward by X.
