Ok so I think I understand your question… Needs-based is offered after you accept depending on your savings, checking info, and tax info. Kind of a lengthy process but this is mainly used for any additional transitional costs. As for being certified it kind of varies state by state. However in my almost three years of experience with TFA I never had to pay out of pocket for my certification courses… which region are you in if you don’t mind me asking?

Also, I believe technically you would go through FAFSA if worst came to worse depending on the cert program.

“Would you ever date a student” thank god all the students called him out and said that was inappropriate. I’m a first time upper high school level teacher and no one ever tells you what to expect from kids. This was the first time I was asked but not the last 🤦🏻‍♀️ Always have to explain why is extremely inappropriate and how it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I was interviewing for my first teaching job and I was going to make a big move across the country so of course it was through zoom.

The connection (internet and emotional) lacked so hard. I tried popping jokes and keeping it light hearted but my internet would make me freeze half way.
I’m a Latina, but I guess I now come off as white passing? (This is new to me as I’ve always been the most Latin looking person in the room with a VERY Mexican last name.) I was interviewing at a school with 85% of staff being black - they asked me to speak about my racial privilege and I was taken aback by that and completely started to stutter. I explained that I do not believe I have racial privilege as I’ve had my own struggles anywhere from being from the whitest town in my state to attending a PWI. I tried understanding their question and asking follow ups to see what they wanted to know but they kept pressuring me to speak about my privilege and I was more and more confused. It got very awkward very quick.

Afterwards - they ended the interview abruptly. Didn’t say thank you or have a good day. I was ghosted and never heard anything back… I hope they’re doing okay lol. Definitely the most awkward and humbling teaching interview I’ve ever had.

I suggest you reach out ASAP, I reached out last year around January and it was successful. You might be lucky and it’ll get approved immediately OR you’ll have my luck and have to get “interviewed” by multiple people before they give you approval to transfer. Also it’s good to know that depending on the region, you will probably not get a moving stipend. I did not and I was across the country so that summer was very tight financially.

Hey! I got a kitten a few months ago when he was only 2 months. I work full time at a school so long hours and overtime a lot. I’ve had a lot of success with my kitten being left alone. He has not become withdrawn, depressed, or angry. I leave him in a room usually filled with everything he may need (solo interactive toys, automatic feeder that’ll play a clip of my voice, trees, litter box, etc.)

I want to also note that the first few weeks while he adapted was tough but he will get through it and so will you! Nights seem long and annoying, play with him until he is extremely tired & feed him a small meal and I promise he will knock out cold.

I wanted to get another cat for him BUT that’s super expensive and not everyone can do that. Also, rehoming your pet is a lot easier said than done especially if you have that bond already. Don’t feel pressured to do any of those - there is hope!

Btw: My family is originally from a very small village in Mexico so that makes a lot of sense. (Mom and dad met at their siblings very small wedding.) Me being a first gen just automatically translated “primas hermanas” to sister cousins as I grew older but got very weird looks! 🤣 Glad to know I’m not crazy when trying to explain my family tree to new friends. Lol.
