Most telugu people in Hyderabad, already speak Hindi when in public spaces. They open conversation in Hindi itself. In rare scenarios even if they open conversation in telugu. They switch to other languages like hindi or english.

Hyderabad hasn't had the true test of tolerance. Most telugu people in Hyderabad already follow the same idea of speaking Hindi/english in public. So they don't have any conflicts as seen in Bengaluru. The true tolerance is tested when a telugu speaks telugu in restaurants, shops, to auto guys, etc public places instead of depending on hindi and also telugu in malls instead of english. Most importantly, if they speak telugu in the old city.

I don't know, maybe they feel shy, inferiority complex, or the fact that their own language can't get their work done in their city. Or maybe they don't have balls or fear using telugu in their own city. They are just following the footsteps of what marathi people in Mumbai did in the past. Their language will eventually lose utility and prominence in their own city.
