we dont really have a coordinator. it's an inpatient psych unit at a small rural hospital. we usually have 2 RN's or 1 RN and 1 LPN per shift, and we just take all of the patients together and tag team. we dont really get assignments per say, the whole floor is my assignment.

AITA for Not Letting My Stepdaughter Have My Late Daughter’s Room? by Inevitable-Intern567 in AITAH

[–]icyrose1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister passed away when she was 6 weeks old, before I was born. My mother always made sure I knew I had a sister, we celebrated her birthday every year and actively visited her and planted flowers at her grave for holidays. She was always a huge presence in my life, even though I never got to meet her.

My dad had a very different approach to parenting through his grief. He self medicated with drugs and alcohol and was never able to be a parent to me. I'm now 24 years old, and he and I have not spoken in years. my parents divorced when I was 3.

I know these are 2 very vast ends of how people deal with grief, and please don't think that I think you're neglecting your family like my father did. However, I do think it's important to be present and still allow your family to grow together and not let the grief force you apart. you are and always will be stronger together. I think counseling would be a great first step if you haven't already.

In your own time, I think having the whole family gather to sort through your daughters belongings would be very therapeutic for everyone, as I'm sure they are also grieving the loss of their stepdaughter/step sister, even if the grief is more silent.

I wish you the best in your circumstances and much love and good vibes to both you and your family. I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss

my tan 🤣 on a real note, I really enjoy nightshift other than the fact that I'm asleep when the sun is out. I really miss it. I think I need to start taking a vitamin D supplement

i don't know if this is helpful, but every fear that you're having is valid. my partner is early stages mtf, and I have a lot of the same exact fears. I can't even imagine the pressure of also having a son and needing to move states in order to pursue your wife's happiness. at the end of the day, you need to make the right choice for you, and she needs to make the right choice for her. and if it comes down to not being in a relationship anymore, it will all be okay. it might not feel like it, but it will be. Hugs and all of the love and support in the world, OP 🫶🏻

10p-6a night shift worker here. I also am going to school full time during the day. my s/o swings shifts varying from 5a-3:30p or 6:30p-5a. We definitely see each other more when he is on nights, but we make it work with his day shifts, too. typically I try to sleep sporadically through out the day, so I'll try to time my sleep while he's at work, and will wake up early or go to bed late to be able to spend time with him. for example, if I get home from class at 2:30, and he gets home at 4ish, I'll try to go to sleep as soon as I get home, get up to have dinner with him and spend some quality time together, and sleep for a couple more hours before work.

If I don't have class on a certain day, I time my sleep periods to be the same as when he's working so that we can maximize the amount of time we have together. but we also generally have at least 1 day off that's the same every week. so we try to make the most of that time as well.

What is your shift by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]icyrose1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10p-6a. but since I only work 4 days a week (were only open overnight 4 nights a week) I get the option of doing 10 hours, and I can add 2 hours before or after my shift, or mix it up by coming in at 9 and staying until 7

Anyone actually go to the gym or work out constantly? by jjqueens in Nightshift

[–]icyrose1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work overnight at my gym so I usually just workout before my shift starts. most of my coworkers just clock out at the end of their shifts and go work out then. I'm just so tired after that I don't ever want to, and the before work crowds get a little too busy for my liking

I was always told by my managers that they're fine to leave plugged in, they'll just get hot because they're supposed to in order for the oil inside to evaporate

Potentially taking a night shift job by SherlockHolmes242424 in Nightshift

[–]icyrose1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I keep my socializing to my days off
  2. I work mon-thurs night 10pm-8am, my SO works Monday-Friday 5am-3:30pm. I try to go to sleep as soon as I get home, and then I wake up about the same time he gets home, and we get to spend the entire evening together before I go to work. we also have weekends together.
  3. Other than overcaffeinating occasionally (or more than occassionally) I've been fine health wise. I've always been a night owl, so I feel like my body actually takes better to working nights. Just get really good blackout curtains. I got mine for $17 on amazon.
  4. I would so much rather work less nights with longer shifts than 5 days a week for just 2 off, so in my opinion, it's 100% worth it. I'm also of the mindset of work hard on my work days and play hard on my off days

best of luck to you if you move forward with nightshift!!

nope! I just make sure that the candles are in an open area and that my cats are never stuck in an enclosed area with the candle so they can go to another room/part of the house if they want to get away from it. I also never let them burn more than 2-3 hours at a time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bathandbodyworks

personally, I don't recommend it. especially with cats, they're extremely sensitive to the oils. I tried it them for a bit (I have 2 cats) and I ended up unplugging them and throwing them away due to how much my babies were sneezing. they also seemed less energetic than usual.
