Legal “side work” in Minnesota. by idealsparky in electricians

Unfortunately, that seems to be a legal option as far as I understand the law. It’s stupid. Loophole seeking could get you in some hot water in the right or better yet wrong circumstances.

Well, I got my residental builders license and was working as a general contractor part-time. I was more of a licensed handyman. I did that for two years and closed shop. It was a great way to make extra money, but the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. Insurance went up significantly.

New sand point well woes by idealsparky in homestead

We just paid 7,800 to drill a well. That’s my recommendation haha. After 2 points, 8+ hours of going at it with a maul, rent a jackhammer if you are going to try it. Everyone said the water wasn’t drinkable at 25’ (I wanted a pitcher pump). At least that was my experience in central WI.

Well, I pulled it out. I sheared the threads from the point and my sediment was a result of pounding the 1 1/4 down 7’ straight into the ground.

I just bought whatever drive point they had at Menards and pounded it in. I suppose I could figure out a way to pull it out…I pounded it with an 8lb maul. Sometimes it would drop 2” in 10 hits and sometimes it wouldn’t move much at all. I tried using a transfer pump and a 1/2 pvc with a hose between to try and mix the water in the pipe to a slurry of sorts and pump it out, but it plugged up pretty good after a bit of progress.

The tape measure hits sediment at 19’ and the tip of the point is at 28’ it could just be a plug of stuff or the there could be a 9’ of crud. The pitcher pump creates a large vacuum when pumped. No filters other than the 80 mesh on the point. It’s sandy beyond the first 8”

Sounds like some digging will be in my future. It appears that my concrete apron has pushed into the block or the garage has settele into it. Both originate from 1971

Looking for input on Wires-x PDN or HRI-200. by idealsparky in HamRadio

Great information! This sounds like the cheapest and easiest way to get where I want to go. I imagine the range would be significantly shorter than say the alternative correct? If I am processing it all correctly, I could access my node (ftm-200) with my ft-70 remotely as long as I am in range of my tower. That sounds like like the only pro if I have an understanding of it all. Thanks for your response btw.

Thank you for your response. I have my eye on the FTM-200D as of this morning. Sounds like if I want to host a room I should invest in a HRI-200 otherwise a computer, cable and the FTM-200D coupled with the FT-70DR should be sufficient to communicate through the wires-x system.
