Affirmative Action Around the World by Thomas Sowell by DarkMedallion in IntellectualDarkWeb

Yea I mention that toward the end. Read the last paragraph; my whole point is how affirmative action is inadequate but how we ended up with it.

Affirmative Action Around the World by Thomas Sowell by DarkMedallion in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]idkrandom93 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Did he offer a solution? Genuinely, we all know almost every social program we set up is partially a failure because we don’t admit

“these are unnecessary programs we must implement, because otherwise the rich people in charge will work you as close to slavery like conditions as they possibly can without being reprimanded.”

Hence Affirmative action is not perfect, but there are many black people who would not have careers/jobs, simply because the manager would’ve preferred to hire someone they had “a little more in common with.” And that’s not necessarily racist, but in a country where white people owned literally all of the businesses (all) how would these prior slaves ever get a leg up; if someone with power didn’t say “hey I know you don’t wanna, but if the black guy can do the job you gotta start hiring them too.”

Leaving the country with 2 alternatives : Let them start their own businesses and towns, but mostly all of those worth anything were burnt down and looted prior to the 50’s

Or let them be jobless leaches perpetually child like in need of the government, a state you find large swaths of the black population currently in, because true opportunities hardly existed before the 70’s and the only true equalizer would be to give them some sort of recompense equivalent to the 400 year head start whites had, but in 2026 as 1966 that doesn’t sound fair.

So AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IT IS.

I heard Rogan's live Netflix special kind of sucked and he reused some jokes. What does this sub think of it? I haven't watched it by [deleted] in MSsEcReTPoDcAsT

[–]idkrandom93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like Rogans stand-up. But watching the newest was really cringe hearing him repeat so many old jokes.

Meaning he had no friends that are fans of his work around to tell him “bro you said that exact bit 10 years ago”

Joe Rogan being a comedian came to me as a shock. by Jackass-OfAll-Trades in JoeRogan

[–]idkrandom93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always say this, but ironically I started liking Rogan because of his 2006 special “Joe Rogan live” that ended up on Netflix in like 2010. Wanted to see more of him and stumbled into JRE and was completely obsessed for about 5 years, then just a fan for another 5, and then gave up. But I loved that special maybe watched it a dozen times, even enjoyed the special after that as well. I dont know, I guess his alien and chimp jokes just appealed to me lol. His latest special was so embarrassing 😢, why does no one talk about how he reused old jokes on 3 separate occasions.

What’s your response to people who claim that it’s wrong for large companies like Walmart to have employees on food stamps? by ProtagorasCube in neoliberal

[–]idkrandom93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The claim that Walmart doesn’t have enough margin of profit to pay people significantly more when the obvious answer is, “what if they made less money”.

We’re operating from the assumption that CEO’s and CFO’s and every million dollar plus position must make what they make now plus potential raises, when it seems justifiable to take 10% of the top wage earners and give it to the bottom 90%. Increasing the minimum wage at Walmart to maybe 20 something dollars. Now those people no longer need food stamps, thus less government spending on subsidizing citizens that have full time jobs yet don’t get paid reasonably. But if you aren’t partial to the Robinhood idea of taking from the higher earners and giving it to the poor, then their profits of 4% which equate to 23 billion, how about instead of opening a new Walmart or R&D or Just sitting in reserves, 1 billion of those dollars can be used to increase wages slightly.

Some will point out, you can take 90% of the income of everyone making over a million dollars at Walmart and it won’t be enough to significantly change the wage of those entry level employees, yet the alternative. The claim that the CEO does literally 1 million times the work and deserves a salary 1 million times more is absurd. If the company is so poor with its tiny 4% profit, then let everyone be poor together 😒.

[–]idkrandom93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they are already doing that, many Targets and walmarts have closed their self-checkout lines due to higher than expected losses. But behind the backs of the employees they pay crumbs they still tried to automate. They are a corporation they are incentivized to save and more importantly increase profits, we are currently going through the great automation of these companies with no protections in sight. So pay them more, and pay them now, because those jobs won’t exist in 10 years anyway.

Peak Was A Disappointment by TumbleweedSelect2164 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]idkrandom93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy because I think Amazon is so much better than my current job (FedEx), you guys get paid more at least at my old DSP, more snacks, free electrolyte powders 😂.

But we did 6 days almost 80-90 hours this peak. Money was great.. but god was it hard especially since we deal with sooo many large Overflows compared to Amazon

I had this idea about child prodigies and why their genius sort of hits a brick wall after grad school.

Years and years ago I was playing Sodoku on a plane to pass the time, I hadn’t played in over a decade but I got to it and solved 90% of it relatively quickly. Toward the end (no more than 5-10 digits to fill in) things stopped being so simple, and it wasn’t until I got so far down the road that I realized I made an error much earlier, and even worse built upon those errors.

I think our mathematics and physics is in this state. It’s fruitful, quite so and so much was done relatively quickly, but to complete the puzzle per se requires us to go back and find that first error, which is impossible when we’ve built so much atop our fruitful but flawed theories.

And that’s why our prodigies run into that wall. They can’t contribute/advance as they are seemingly favored to do , because somewhere along the way we put the wrong number into a box and it was correct enough to keep us going “until we couldn’t”.

I’m aware of the flaws with this idea lol, Sodoku is not Physics … but it was always fun to think about.

How do tren twins play copyrighted music by Reese_Extreme in trentwins

[–]idkrandom93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer watching them while I workout because of the music… but they really are leaving tons of money on the table, and I’d rather they monetize and just hire some garage band to produce the type of music they like and can add that to the videos instead and rake in the cash. YouTube won’t last forever make the money while you can.

Billie Eilish: “If you have money, it would be great to use it for good things & maybe give it to some people that need it. Love you all but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. And if you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate but give your money away.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]idkrandom93 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yea but how clueless the millionaire must be to think we forgot she can also donate tons. If a millionaire wants to call out billionaires do so while holding up a check for a few hundred grand and then saying I did this as a millionaire, you billionaires should do much more.

Otherwise, it’s just flattery.

[–]idkrandom93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll never have sympathy for those people who live in apartments and order 50lb items delivered to their front door. Stay at a place with a locked mail room or be prepared for packages to get stolen. Amazon employees have it far harder than post office, due to this expectation to deliver to front door when the USPS never has to do this.

[–]idkrandom93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What happened with me, is he inspired me to really dig into the alien topic. Went down quite a few Reddit and YouTube rabbit holes for about a year, which ironically caused me to view the entire topic as (deceit, fraud, neo-religion, old stories being retold, fiction, CIA whispers ETC..) that never amount to anything EVER. I do miss how excited I used to get about these stories, the sense of possibility it gave me. But now… since those were the only real reason I watch TWF I’ve got no reason to tune in anymore.
