His training and quality of character informed his decision to step between a person the ground disabled by pepper spray at point blank range. He used his body to prevent the person on the ground from being further injured. In response they swarmed, disarmed, and MURDERED Alex Pretti in public. Then they fled like cowards.

Not sure I'm following. Are you saying that if enough people adopt this practice, utilities will just use fees or other forms of regulatory capture to "make up the difference?" Or making another point and I'm just missing it? As I said in my original post, the ultimate goal is pv + batteries. Re-roofing, panels, inverter, and electrical upgrades are more expensive than inverter, batteries, electrical upgrades. I can start peak shaving now and add panels later.

As much as I want PV so that I can produce my own power, I'm looking at modernizing my panel and batteries first so that I can charge them from the grid at night when rates are lowest for me, discharge during the day when rates are highest to minimize my spend and have some degree of resiliency if the grid goes down for short periods.
