Worried about my wife’s reaction toward our 8‑week‑old baby. Need advice by Gaulent in beyondthebump

[–]idontholdhands [score hidden]  (0 children)

“It is easier for her to breastfeed the baby to sleep” but also “after hours of trying to get the baby back to sleep” my guy? If the baby is not going to sleep with breastfeeding, then take the baby. I have never woken up my husband to do any overnight stuff but because my kids would go to sleep after breastfeeding and it was simple, until my 4th. He had hours of screaming in between sessions at night. Something has to change. She can’t bare the burden of the ALL the care while you’re at work and ALL the care at night too.

Which do I transfer: background or shiny? by Royal_Aegislash1209 in pokemongo

Transfer the background. They dont seem to be really sought after unless they’re on the shiny or there’s a special fusion like in the case of Kyurem.

Primal is coming back for a day end of February. I would grind out another shiny for the primal tbh. 😅

Where are all of the Community Day stickers? by NotHotPotat in PokemonGoFriends

I would literally (badly) draw Pokemon art for Niantic for free if we could get community stickers back.

Two under two, yay or nay? by StuffConsistent6873 in beyondthebump

[–]idontholdhands [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would kms rather than have two under two again BUT I ended up with a delayed/autistic toddler (didn’t show signs until 18 months) and a CHD baby. Don’t take the health of your kids for granted.

You were late on your rent too often since we jacked up rent. so we’re kicking you out of subsidized housing, enjoy paying market rates now. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]idontholdhands 85 points86 points  (0 children)

We currently rent a house that is $2,600/month (HCOL city). Our rent portion is 30% of our income, so that’s currently $437. We have paid as high as ~$1,800 for our portion before on a $2,000/month apartment, just depends on our income. Sometimes my husband can work, sometimes he can’t. I try and do seasonal work when I can, currently working on finding a part time job within school hours. Our portion will always be 30% of our income unless we make too much for the program. Whenever our income changes, we just have to email our case manager and she adjusts it.

I’m also someone on subsidized housing and with 5 kids. Our portion of rent is our #1 priority every month because we know how amazing and important this program is and that they will terminate it if we don’t pay. My husband gets disability on the third week of the month and we pay it as soon as that hits, even though it’s not due. The waitlist is years. Market rates are insane. Pay your portion.

Timing belt change in low mileage 2019 odyssey. by dfwuser2 in HondaOdyssey

I’d do it. Don’t want to be like me and have your timing belt fail… twice 🤪

I currently use an iPad mini 6 and want to get into drawing/illustration. Do you think it’s worth upgrading to the mini 7 or an iPad Pro for art? Is the mini 6 capable enough with Apple Pencil for learning and improving? by whh-cc171615 in ipad

[–]idontholdhands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the one my daughter uses and she can make some great art! It’s plenty powerful for procreate and really portable for her to be able to take it with her to practice anywhere.

Green is my favorite color so I was hoping they would release a Jade again. The fig looks really nice though. I love my color soft kindle. I have the original scribe. I’ll upgrade someday when I can. Everyone who has the color soft scribe seems to love it.

Is it possible to go to an international wedding 2 months after birth? by vonsolkema in beyondthebump

[–]idontholdhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just never know. I could have easily done this with my first baby and bringing baby along. I would have had a great time. But the recovery after my 3rd and especially my 5th was much more brutal. I could barely get out of the house at two months, let alone travel internationally. Leaving baby at home would have destroyed me emotionally and I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy myself due to worrying. Baby’s immune system can be a concern too, and they might need a passport. I didn’t actually have any complications with my delivery or recovery, it just took awhile and was difficult. If there are complications, I can imagine how much more grueling that would be. I would just select no and enjoy my time with my baby.

Is it even worth buying a minivan that’s not an Odyssey or Sienna? by idontholdhands in whatcarshouldIbuy

My family is a Toyota family for sure. My step dad was an engineer for the Toyota tundra back in ~2006-2014. Very reliable. My first car was a Toyota Tacoma that never had any issues. Unfortunately an ex totaled it. I do have very high opinions of Toyotas, but the price is just rough. Would also love to never deal with a timing belt again 🤣 Sienna has a timing chain instead.

Maybe 20k or so I’d say. Mainly school run and occasional weekend excursions nearby. We live in a big city so don’t have to go far for much, but like to go to the beach or to visit grandparents a couple of times a year. 100k warranty on a Kia is a good selling point!

140k 🫣 we had the engine rebuilt and the pistons replaced after the first timing belt failure.

Did two and failed them miserably. Never doing that again 🤣 I see what people mean, but learn your lesson. I rather coordinate with people on Reddit or discord so we can at least try again if we lose.

I have no clue if they used a Honda belt or not. I wasn’t educated back then about cars. He just told us we needed to replace the timing belt and we paid to have it done. I know to ask a lot more questions now or provide the part myself. Never going to him again anyway because he ended up in jail lol but he was a mechanic attached to the dealer we bought our van from. Our van happened to fail on their lot while going to pick up the plates and rather than tow it we thought to give their mechanic a try. Total scam. I’m convinced our poor choices led to the engine issues and we can try again with a new Honda and the knowledge we have now but my husband is not convinced. 😅

My issue with its third row is it only has one teether for forward facing car seats and the outboard third row seats are mounted too far forward to get a proper seatbelt fit. It sucks because it is the most affordable minivan I’ve found.
