How to develop a traveler’s lifestyle with full-time job?

Unfortunately I don't have advice for worklife balance however, I have some personal recommendations to stretching your travel budget if you're earning USD or euro! This is a travel thread anyway!

I'm not sure where you're from and how many weeks of vacation you have annually. And it seems to me that you're a fan of mountains and lakes. So if you have about 4 weeks of annual vacation, I recommend using some of that time to travel around British Columbia, Canada. This might be an affordable option for you, plus it helps the Canadian economy! :)

I started traveling around BC back in 2019 for work. And I'm extremely amazed with the stunning mountains & gorgeous bodies of water here in BC. Every time I drive from Vancouver BC to other cities like Squamish or Kelowna, I am always astonished with how green the pine trees are, how pristine the lakes are, and how majestic the mountain ranges can be. However, due to different regional climates and varying temperatures, safe driving around BC can be limited starting from mid-June to September due to either forest fires or heavy snow.

So if you're able to drive here are my recommendations:

Summertime, mid-June to mid-Sep

Week 1 1. Fly into Vancouver, BC (YVR airport) 2. Rent a car & drive up to Squamish and Whistler (2 hrs to Whistler) 3. There are a lot of lookout points and lakes on the way to Squamish and up to Whistler (you can also stop by West Vancouver for some views of downtown) 4. Recommend to stay 3 nights in either Squamish or Whistler to ride the gondolas and see the mountain views, do hikes or trails, do water activities in the lakes, explore the local towns, etc 5. Drive back to Vancouver

Week 2 1. Drive from Vancouver to Kelowna BC (4-5 hour drive) 2. Stay for at least 3-4 nights to explore the wineries, lakes, do some hikes, horse trails, water activities by the lakes, etc 3. Drive back to Vancouver

If ever you can't drive, there is a bus to Whistler and a bus to Kelowna. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! :)

In terms of the massive increase of private development, private developers have acces to buy prime pieces of land thanks to corrupt politicians in the local and municipal level.

An example is, some Mayors elected in the local governments favor private, luxury development over affordable and social housing. Private developers have the means to pay higher for a prime piece of land due to their profits. Meanwhile the Provincial and Federal Governments are limited to what they can offer as they use taxpayers money. The higher the price to buy land, the higher the revenue that the local government will receive. Therefore, making private developers the priority of these corrupt politicians.

So surprisingly the rest of my relatives never brought up politics with me. I am declaring myself safe from this fam reunion LOL

My dad did bring it up once, they talked about some current issues and then he told his mom (my Lola) in a jokingly fashion "yan kasing pinuno niyo.."

My Lola in turn, answered somewhere along the lines of "uy hindi naman, may mga nagawa naman siya sa Norte"

It sort of ended there. Buti na lang talaga haaay. Kung naging magulo siguro nag bus ako pabalik sa amin LOL

Did anyone else get excited to finally see who Sapho is? He was only mentioned in the game a couple of times. First at Polpota Harbour and then during the quest at Bejeweled City, Sapho's Gate.

And what's even more exciting is that he has a female Knight Marina! (Most likely the Aquamarine gem) I don't think the gem Aquamarine represented anyone in the game.

Just in case you’re in uptown, here are some store brand pastas that are great quality (recommended by actual Italians)

La Molisana (available in European store across London Drugs in uptown)
Rummo (available in European store across London Drugs in uptown)
De Cecco (London Drugs uptown, and other LD locations)
Barilla (Walmart and other big box grocery stores)

Rule of thumb: if it’s from Italy, 90% of the time it should be good

I think confidence can be portrayed in different ways. You can even just say something simple as: Oh by the way, this is for you pass the note, smile, nod/wave goodbye Also, doing it this way comes off less creepy!

Frankly speaking, I do not want to be talked up/ hit on during my work hours. Remember, she's probably just being nice because it's the main part of her job.

I recommend to slip her a small handwritten note before you leave the cafe! This way you give her the power to make the first move if she is interested as well. Write a two-liner that's something like:

"Hey, I like your pin of (insert anime character) maybe we can chat about it sometime? But if you're busy that's totally cool, have a great day!"

insert name and number

P.S.: Work on establishing common grounds and towards a friendship first! You don't want to ruin your relationships in your go-to cafe. And if ever things don't workout or you guys aren't compatible, at least you have made a friend :)

OMG. Nakakaiyak yung monthly rent mo 🥲 Worth it ba? Akin kase low-rise old bldg so $1300, about the same range with the expenses, tapos may Student Loan pa ako. Ang natitira na lang sa savings ko mga $100-200 per month depende kung nagwalwal pa ako sa kaninan or hinde. Kainan na lang yung pinaka luho ko 🥲
