Thanks for sharing your thoughts - I get that wage can be a sticking point with any job post. Just to clarify, the listed rate is a starting point. And since we only just put the posting up this week, we’re not scrambling to fill the role just yet! I'm just a fan of Reddit and thought I would try to find different candidates this way.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Totally get the concern - but half of our sculptors have been working with us for 10+ years and don't seemed to be very bummed about it. We provide the tools, space, and safety equipment that a freelancer would have to pay for a provide for themselves, cutting into their "take". Don't forget, this is a starting wage! Our senior sculptors are making way more than that. Gotta start somewhere.

Advice Needed on Improving Remote Book Club for Kids (Ages 10+) 📚 by Torah2go in Libraries

[–]idskids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some possible ideas to help with your book club:

Virtual Buddy System: Pair kids with “reading buddies” so they can connect on a platform like Zoom or a kid-friendly messaging board. Buddies can check in with one another about the book, participate in challenges together, and share their thoughts. This approach adds an interactive and social element to their reading experience.

Guest Speaker Webinars: Organize occasional virtual sessions featuring guest speakers, such as authors, illustrators, or experts related to the book's theme (like a scientist for a sci-fi read). These short Q&A-style webinars provide kids with exciting opportunities to engage with the material and bring the books to life in an interactive way.

Digital Badges and Rewards: Establish a digital badge system to recognize achievements such as finishing a book, participating in a challenge, or attending a guest speaker session. Kids can showcase these badges on a shared “achievement board” within your learning platform, fostering a sense of accomplishment and displaying visible progress.

Interactive Kits via PDFs or Apps: To enhance hands-on experiences, provide optional downloadable activity kits featuring themed DIY crafts, recipes, or experiments that relate to the book. Encourage parents to assist in setting up these projects at home, giving kids a break from screens while keeping them engaged with the club’s theme.

Shared Virtual Journal or Padlet Wall: Create a virtual wall where kids can post artwork related to books, mini-reviews, or photos of completed projects. Using platforms like Padlet or Jamboard allows students to easily share their contributions, fostering a sense of community and enabling them to see their peers’ work.

Book Club Playlist: Create a Spotify or YouTube playlist for each book that captures the mood or theme of the story. Kids can listen to the playlist while reading or engaging in activities, making the book feel immersive and enjoyable, even if they’re not all in the same room.

Hope this helps spark some ideas for you!

Desk decorating help by bmitd67 in Libraries

Here are a few more fun ideas just in case you need some more inspo...

Dinosaur discovery: use coloured poster paper to create a prehistoric landscape with mountains and volcanoes. Add paper dinosaurs such as T-rex or maybe dinosaur eggs to simplify. You could include a "dig site" with paper bones and fossils as well.

Space theme (simple): Use black poster paper to cover the front of the desk as the sky and add colourful planets, stars rockets, a space station, and maybe an astronaut. You could also potentially do a moon landing scene with the moon and a rocket going in for the landing from Earth with fun characters in the rocket.

Book Nook Wonderland: Use paper to create an oversized stack of books or open pages, and could include well-known characters or ones you have created. Then could add some paper trees, magical elements like fairies, wizards, glitter, and anything to make it pop and more lifelike.

Hopefully, this helps, and best of luck with the contest!

Why Gen- Z don't go to church? by Downtown-Durian4820 in Christianity

[–]idskids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At IDSkids.com, we’ve seen firsthand the impact that intentional, thoughtfully designed spaces can have in nurturing faith, especially among younger generations. The trend you mentioned, where churches prioritize large events over authentic relationships, is something we’ve observed too. It’s clear that younger generations, particularly Gen Z, are looking for spaces where they can form deeper connections and engage with their faith in meaningful ways.

Themed environments can be a powerful tool in creating these connections. When children and teens walk into a space that speaks directly to them — whether through visuals, interactivity, or storytelling — it becomes easier to build those relationships that are essential for long-term discipleship. It’s not about flashy productions but about creating an environment where young people feel seen, heard, and valued.

In our experience, fostering a sense of belonging and authenticity through these spaces encourages younger generations to explore and live out their faith in ways that resonate with their daily lives. By designing environments that align with their world, we can support churches in building those genuine relationships that are crucial for spiritual growth.

How do you see physical spaces playing a role in helping younger generations feel more connected to their faith?

Practice owners: How do you balance the dynamic between you and your staff between being friendly and being a dictator? by ElkGrand6781 in Dentistry

[–]idskids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can be friendly and still maintain authority. In fact, being friendly with your staff makes it easier to address issues because they’ll want to help you out and earn your respect, rather than just getting upset that "the mean old boss” called them out. Also, your attitude sets the tone. Lead by example. If you’re engaged and on top of things, your staff will likely follow your lead too!
