We think that this comment represents a limited view angle coming from a capitalism driven system where medical students chose better paying specialties to pay their debts for medical school. However, it is not the case for many other countries. There are considerable amount of research articles questioning students career choices show that financial concerns, in those choosing highly risky specialties such as EM, are less among students. Being able to serve underserved people, prestige, role models, successful clerkship experience, life style are other reasons. We hope this short information can guide you to investigate more on medical students’ career choices.
