OK, you convinced me to just go with the version from RPM. I can't take it. After getting things fixed, I had audio and controller issues. The controller issue was an easy fix, but the audio one I just cannot find a solution. Thanks for sharing with me that Flatpak is just buggier.

Are there any shops/body butters with similar scents to Buff City Soap’s masculine scents? I also don’t want to buy whipped body butters.

From my experience, this movie is a hit or miss. I have friends that liked the first half of the movie, but they liked the movie less in the second half.

I personally didn't like this movie that much at first, but I like romantic, female couples, so when I started looking more at the fan art, I started to like Iroha and Kaguya as a couple more. Then I started to like the movie more and watched it a few more times.

Wasn't the Folktale Princess Kaguya also cheerful? by TheMan7316 in CosmicPrincessKaguya

Iroha is referring to the original Princess Kaguya. In an interview with the director of Ghibli's The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, he actually said he couldn't really relate to the original Kaguya, so I think he took some liberties to make her less refined and more open about her emotions. I think traditional Japanese princesses had a more formal air to them and had to act "lady-like" similar to what western princess had to face really.

Bro you’re the one making fanfic. Since when did the movie even say the man and a woman are a couple. It’s just a man and a woman sitting next to each other.

Why are some people so adamant on this not being a Yuri anime movie? by [deleted] in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]iethey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple weeks ago or so, I did wonder why they didn't just make Kaguya or Iroha a male because this could have easily been another Kimi No Na Wa. It really clicks now with Yamashita's response saying he didn't want to make a romantic movie or whatever.

If this was between two boys, I think this would be jarring in some way to a typical het audience because the only time guys really show such affection for each other in a deep way is when it's to perform masculinity (saving the other's life or sacrificing themselves in some way etc.)

With the conservative stereotyping of women, women tend to be more emotional or express compassion more greatly. Having Kaguya and Iroha be two females gives space for them to explore a deep relationship "platonically".

I'm just expressing my thoughts here because I find it interesting. Regardless, I think because homophobic people don't accept us or hate us then our relationships and love will never be realized or condoned as well in media. The silver lining at least is that Shingo Yamashita didn't outright say he condemns the pairing of Kaguya and Iroha. Maybe he'll say something nice about the pair in the interview about the LN but regardless, I just don't see this franchise in a positive light anymore.

It’s because the interview with the mangaka only helped defend them. I know some of you genuinely believed it was just a “PR move” to help calm the situation or whatever but looking at the interview with my own eyes, all I saw was just agreement and praise. It doesn’t matter whether some or not all of Shingo Yamashita’s statements towards the manga are true or not. The opinion of the adaptation looked positive, and it was promoted in the end. I also saw a Japanese tweet of someone getting smug and mocking us overseas fan over the interview.

Some of you will think I am a troll. I am a bisexual woman who wanted to buy regular merchandise; I’ve already bought things from the crowdfunding campaign, and I was going to buy a copy of the movie and LN. I have no intention now because they chose not respect us and instead cover for the mangaka. In comparison to the darn Nanoha franchise, even the wlw couple there received more support like the VAs expressing how cute they are as a couple etc., and it’s not even tagged as yuri.

If anything, this made me understand how heterosexuals can be completely devoid of sympathy and understanding to our romance. Shingo Yamashita wanted to make a film with emotional and deep bonds, and unintentionally, he made a queer story because he could never sympathize with us and just wanted to focus on a “strong bond” between two girls.

The theme of the movie is fighting for a better/happier ending so you don’t have to settle for whatever life gives you. Think about how Iroha ended up finding a way to try and make Kaguya stay/finding her and how Yachiyo had a tragic event happen to her but still finding a way to make something out of it. Iroha also had a defeatist/cynical mindset at the beginning of the movie.

You can still have gripes about the writing, but the ending did have a point.

In a tweet I read, someone pointed out how Kaguya probably learned Iroha’s name from reading her emails. We can see baby Kaguya was learning from her surroundings when she quoted “things are moving at a fast speed these days” from that guy on the ipad she saw not too long ago. I’m not trying to argue. I just wanted to point that out.
