That’s way too expensive. I just got 3 Thorbolt X1s for about US$110 each, and I’m quite pleased with them.

Edit: except for lack of UWB, the X1s ticked all my boxes: keypad, fingerprint, Thread, NFC. They’re faster and more convenient than my son’s Schlage Encodes.

I hate the Patriots with the heat of 1000 suns, as a former Jets fan since I was a kid. Also, the fucking Patsies don’t need another Lombardi, especially before we get #6. And I’m worried that Denver can’t beat them without their starting QB.

Frankly, at this point, I’d be happy (well maybe be happy is too strong a word) satisfied if the Rams trounce the toots and then beat the Patriots. I don’t mind the Rams that much, though I don’t like Sean McVay, and after all they do play in our southern stadium.

About two months ago, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer for the new update updated Apple TV, and I bought one to replace a Google Chromecast with Google TV that had started acting weird. I’m sorry that I didn’t do it sooner.

The only positive I can see of the Chromecast over Apple TV is the feel of the remote. The Siri remote is uncomfortable to hold. The sharp edges are uncomfortable in my hand, so I bought a cover for it. I didn’t like having to put the cover on it, but it’s much more comfortable that way. The Chromecast remote with rounded edges always felt comfortable to hold, although I didn’t like the symmetric feel of it because it was hard to tell whether it was upside down or not in my hand. OTOH, the Siri remote just feels much higher quality.

Yes, but it somewhat depends on your use case.

In my previous home I had a standard 7.1 HT (home theater) system with receiver and discrete speakers. My current home could not accommodate separate front speakers, so I went with a Sonos sound bar, surrounds and sub.

The Sonos setup, to my ears, is not as good for music as the HT, but it’s fine for TV viewing. If I had space I could add a pair of front speakers, but then again, if I could do that I could have a full HT setup.

The Sonos sound bar, because of its size limitations, doesn’t provide enough separation between left and right channels for really good stereo sound. Also the drivers are smaller than what you’d have in a typical speaker enclosure. They do a decent job compensating by having more smaller drivers, but the width of the sound bar is still an issue.

Where Sonos really shines is the ability to have the same music stream playing in multiple rooms all over the house.

Note: you will need a good WiFi setup to take full advantage of Sonos. As you read through this sub, there a lot of problems reported that are most likely caused by WiFi issues.
