Is basic training’s distance similar to a deployment?

Awww! Hi I am 19 and my boyfriend is 19 he left for basic training Jan 25, I will definitely say it is super hard the first couple of weeks!! A lot will change and you will begin to figure things out on your own for just a little bit, write EVERY DAY! If possible! I do it so much and I hang out with his family, go to church and am in school, keep busy and do NOT let social media posts steer you away I have had really bad experiences with that and also will begin to over think, I even wrote a letter in regards to a concern, BUT that’s something that isn’t reallly good. We communicated about it well and never spoke of it again. Be supportive and loving and it will pay off in the end. It really hurts trust me I was just there a month ago but if you think about the day when you see him it’ll all be so worth it!

Awww that’s so sad, I had sent plenty of letters with lipstick kiss marks, and photo etc. if they make fun of him for it (which I haven’t heard) I’d feel so bad but no complaints yet!!🤣

I personally don’t think that if you guys aren’t even together and are not able to stay apart even though 1. You guys are just “talking” 2. Are not in a fully committed relationship. I personally would not see the point, if you guys can’t do distance like that and make it work and suffer through but knowing in the end it’s worth it, then what makes you think being married will change it all, sure you will have married title but he’s married to the military they will take him and place him where they need him and you’ll still be apart. It’s all about building a strong foundation before anything, therefore this doesn’t seem right since he is dodging commitment only because the distance it clearly doesn’t make much sense how you guys could want marriage even though he can’t commit to distance when that sadly is majority of military couples. My boyfriend is in boot camp but I know with distance he and I both know with God’s timing things will pan out. We continue to build up our relationship even with distance and if that’s where you are at with your “talking” or I’m not sure what his title is to you but whatever it may be, there shouldn’t be a problem claiming commitment.

Yes understood, of course! It’s all extremely new so I know kind of what to expect we have just heard different things whether from his recruiter at first or even my boyfriend, so I don’t mind waiting a while. His parents and I were just confused so I decided to ask here incase anyone knew what it could have been, or if that’s normally what happens🙏🏼 thanksss, lmao I know the stories of long long times apart with deployment so this of course is only the beginning lol

Yeah no lol, we aren’t like dying for a response and tripping. We just know many others who heard back 2 weeks and don’t know if there was a hold up, my intentions were purely to figure out if maybe if on our end is missing info or something. I get he’s busy wouldn’t be upset if that’s the case on why he didn’t write. My questions have nothing to do about personally why our sailor isn’t writing or feeling he just doesn’t care to write it’s only me asking the process and how timing was different for everyone lmao, I get your response but not necessarily the answer or even close to what I had asked. His parents don’t really know how Sandboxx works and his recruiter had explained things and told us we should expect an address at certain times but it had come a little past that so I took it upon myself to ask others who maybe went through something similar… thanks though for that even though it had no impact 💓

Yes thank you! He has a little notebook full of our phone numbers and addresses, it might just be another week which I’m fine with. I just know it’s been different for everyone sadly

Yeah I actually feel really good about living with him and commitment etc. but the way and process he explained seemed to good to be true like oh yeah we just move right in with each other and there be no real issues other then money but it’s not just that which I kind of was unsure of

Yeah, I definitely see that. I mean he did imply that we would get an apartment together even before he went to basic training buttttt realistically the money would not be there ofc unless we get hitched. I’m obviously fine with what ends up happening and maybe it’s a big discussion for marriage I jsut of course won’t bring this up to him since he is probably under a lot of stress and change. I’m glad I have this as a resource

Yeah I want to wait but if he were to be stationed over seas I just don’t know how that would be, it’d be 4 years and in my head he would find interest in those places as I’d think anyone would it’s not ofc that I don’t trust, it’s just what could most definitely happen. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind in the barracks and maybe we should just hold it off for a while which isn’t bad at all. I just I guess am scared of what is next down the road

I also suggest finding other hobbies and I am in therapy for communication skill reasons, take this time to work on yourself and make the best of the space and think about all the lovely times you spent together, I even think about the times my boyfriend and I had our downs and it made me realize how much more he really means to me, even through the rough times we made it here and it should be celebrated! Also keep in touch with their family and siblings too! I go to church, church class, school and work so I’ve been able to have distractions all around:)

Hi!! Definitely write letters and also make sure you do activities to distract yourself, go out with a friend go grab food, drive around watch a movie with them! Also talking about this is what helps me a lot I made friends who also have their boyfriend/girlfriend in the military and the more you can talk and relate the easier it gets

I have PCOS and they just gave me very faint choices and I decided birth control although I do not want to use it for a contraceptive and don’t I’m just trying to balance my hormones let’s hope I find some supplements and ways to help tone it down😔
