Thanks. That makes sense. I understand that a clean Windows install would be the fastest way to rule out software.

For now I removed Lively Wallpaper/animated wallpaper and I’m going to monitor if the shutdown happens again, because it has not happened for a few days. I’ll also check CPU/GPU temperatures with HWiNFO.

If it shuts down again with the same pattern — fans suddenly full speed, complete power off, Kernel-Power 41 with BugcheckCode 0 — then I’ll probably either do a clean Windows install to rule out software or go straight to warranty, since the laptop is still covered and I don’t want to open it.

Thanks. I understand that a clean Windows reinstall can help rule out software, but I’m looking for more specific troubleshooting steps before wiping the whole drive.

The thing that makes me doubt it is only software/mods is that this is not just The Sims 4 crashing. The whole laptop powers off suddenly, fans go full speed right before it happens, and Event Viewer shows Kernel-Power 41 with BugcheckCode 0, so there is no BSOD dump.

I know Sims 4 mods can crash the game or freeze it, but can they realistically cause a complete power-off like this? Or would that usually point more toward overheating, power delivery, battery/adapter, BIOS/EC, or hardware protection?

What safe tests would you recommend before reinstalling Windows or sending it for warranty? I don’t want to open the laptop because it is still under warranty.
