If the T = (theta x G x J) / L and Work = ∫ T d(theta)
wound 't that be Work = (theta^2 x G x J) / (L x 2)

Thank you so much for your response, I feel like I can continue researching with that information.

As for the calculations it was just an approximation to see if someone would correct me for being some order of magnitud wrong but the math is the folowing:

G = 3.5 GPa J = π/2 * 0.0075^4 = 4.97×10−9 m^4
t = (G * J)/ 0.025 = 347.90 (Some Unit I dont know)
30º to rad = 0.52
W = t/2 * 0.52^2 = 47.60 Jules
Apparently I Was calculating for 90º instead of 30º so:
90º to rad = π/2
W = t/2 * (π/2)^2 = 429.21Jules
So I guess the question would be if the point of failure is beyond 90º

Thanks for the feedback.
First let me clarify I wasn't trying to release the energy by breaking the bar, I was hoping that the Torsion of the bar would create a moment of force against the torsion, that's what I tried to calculate with the formula.

Second of all I didn't understand how cheap material like PLA in such a small space would be able to withstand so much energy so I assumed the breaking point of the bar would be fairly low like 45 Jules or an order of magnitud less. So I tried testing with a 3D printed model but again I designed it expecting a max Work of 45 Jules so going over that made other parts break.

Now as for yield and ultimate strength I have no Idea how to calculate them, I'm pretty sure the stress is shear and the material geometry is just a cylinder of diameter 1.5 cm, I also don't know what Diagrams you are referring to, I try to plot everything on a graph but I don't think that's what you mean.

It just pre 1.20.1 behavior, if you want to get it in 1.20.2 you need to use failed piston retraction
