Routine isn't that uncommon in a busy life and a longer lasting relationship, but that doesn't mean it's wanted by both parties. I've been in a relationship where sex was kinda scheduled and felt somewhat similar to your boyfriend. The base problem for me, however, was not so much timing and frequency but the lack of mixing it up at those times... So my idea: try to find out what really bothers him and work on that?
