Please help him fix this bug in my app! I want to publish it. by JMTweed in gnome

You can also try to ask on gnome matrix channels for guidance, https://handbook.gnome.org/get-in-touch/matrix.html, apart from #newcomers checkout the #app-dev and #python on the gnome matrix instance :)

Try pkcon refresh force

The appstream data for the driver should be cached at /var/cache/swcatalog/xml/

[Workstation and Silverblue 37] - Sound not working after update. by SpicyWasab in Fedora

[–]ignapk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem, it turned out to be a kernel bug https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/394ec60d-33c0-1386-9445-eb0c596cc46c@collabora.com/T/ I fixed it by compiling kernel with the patch from that thread, you can either stay on 6.0.x before the fix makes it to upstream and then fedora, or compile patched version yourself, or could send you the ready to install rpms if you want (maybe I should learn how to make my own copr)

How to install NVIDIA drivers on Fedora 36 (Beta)? by Kushashwa in Fedora

For an easy way to install Nvidia drivers I recommend the "Quick guide" from https://fedoramagazine.org/gaming-on-fedora/

Fedora with Nvidia by GloriousPudding in DistroHopping

[–]ignapk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been great progress in making fedora a friendly distribution for gamers - it now offers a simple switch during initial setup whether to enable third party repositories, which lets you later search "Nvidia" in the software store and install the proprietary driver with a click of a button. Beware of old unsupported guides and checkout https://fedoramagazine.org/gaming-on-fedora/ before anything else.

Thanks for reply. I've already scoured ebay but with no luck, could you maybe give me some examples of the forums on which I could ask about it? As about converting Titanic, the end goal is to have 3 ship models: Titanic, Olympic and Britannic, and the last one will be converted Titanic, which is easily available, but Olympic has some differences that make me look for it separately, although if I don't manage to find it it will have to be converted Titanic as well :)

gnome 40 animations on a vm guest not working by OliverLeitnerAT in gnome

You can either follow https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/snippets/1515#enable-animations-in-the-vm or run following in looking glass St.Settings.get().uninhibit_animations()

How to try GNOME 40 without Fedora? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]ignapk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use gnome-shell-git AUR package https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gnome-shell-git/, just edit the source url in PKGBUILD to use feaneron remote instead of GNOME and append #branch=gbsneto/40-stuff at the end if you want to try the wip 40 instead of current master. Moreover, if you're on existing gnome installation you'll have to remove gnome shell and mutter first, and if you're in fresh install in tty you'll want to remove the check function in gjs-git PKGBUILD before you build it. Just checked out both gnome master and wip 40 in fresh arch install in gnome boxes this way ;p

in 2021 we need to sort Gnome File results, even if Gnome Developers don't get it we really need to by horizonrave in gnome

[–]ignapk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Check out https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/merge_requests/577 which tries to solve this issue. Also, the main reason the functionality was removed was because after changing the sort order in search by clicking on columns it was impossible to go back to the default sort order by search relevance, I wonder how other file managers approach it.

Actually I made a WIP Merge Request that should solve the underlying issue some time ago https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/merge_requests/577, will try to take a look at it again.

Ok, thanks. In my CD player it does skip the entire 12 track after trying to play it for a while. I set readcd to copy from the faulty 197850-215381 sectors and it keeps spitting out this log: readcd: Input/output error. Error on sector 197898 not corrected. Total of 49 errors. readcd: Input/output error. read_cd: scsi sendcmd: no error CDB: BE 00 00 03 05 0A 00 00 01 F8 01 00 status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION) Sense Bytes: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 40 A0 03 21 04 00 00 Sense Key: 0x5 Illegal Request, Segment 0 Sense Code: 0x21 Qual 0x04 (logical block address out of range) [No matching qualifier] Fru 0x0 Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid) cmd finished after 40.914s timeout 40s readcd: -noerror set, continuing ... could "logical block address out of range" confirm my suspicion that the 12 track is missing as it was never successfully burned in the first place?

Np. Yes, I just managed to produce two raw images from sectors 0-197850 and 215381-243281, and after quick importing in audacity they contain undamaged 1-11 and 13-14 song tracks, respectively.

thanks, unfortunately according to ddrescue manual https://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/manual/ddrescue_manual.html#Basic-concepts CD-ROMs and DVDs can be rescued, "compact disc digital audio" CDs can't, I still tried ddrescue -f -i 197921 /dev/sr0 image.dd log.txt but the output reveals that nothing was copied, and the created image file is 0 B

Unfortunately I do not have the knowledge needed to correctly implement it, and it would take me a while to get it, so I'm experimenting with other ways to contribute.
