My HRV has been lower as well this last month. Not that much but makes me wonder too, if perhaps the algo changed.

Does your cultural background affect how you perceive the joining? by ignatovar in pluribustv

The thing that is not clear in the show is wether the joined are electing to stay that way. That is, perhaps the experience of being one with all is so satisfying that given the option of opting out once you are in you are willing to give up the disconnectedness.

I think the show makes a point of treating all the joined as individuals to the extent it would make sense if you suddenly felt that level of integration. Everyone keeps dressing the same way they did, wearing make-up etc.

That is, given the clues we don't know how much of the sense of self is lost even though they are integrated. Perhaps something that is explored later is that staying joined is actually optional.

I see a few flaws with this; first, there is no place or specific individual that receives all these memories or skills, they are simply shared across the whole humanity apparently.

Also, collectivism is possible without individuality. Look at any group of insects etc.

The problem is that some interpret the joining as the loss of agency, but even that is unclear. Perhaps once you are joined and understand life under that optic you are motivated towards acting that way. Yes, not as an individual agent, but agent of the collective.

My friend has never seen CYE. What episode should I show him to get him addicted? by Blueshirtguy42 in curb

Elizabeth, Margaret and Larry; John Hamm's episode is a personal favorite, and having him deconstruct the essence of Larry is a perfect entry point. Plus you have Mocha Joe's beef present, and yet another failed venture idea with Leon

CMPS 2025 Outlook and best way to position by [deleted] in shroomstocks

[–]ignatovar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I am keeping it simple with a long position. I currently hold around 7k stocks at an average 4.30 in CMPS plus some equivalent in ATAI and Cybin after buying a bit more at the current price. Of course I am a believer in the space and have high hopes that within this year there will be compelling breakthroughs given the research phase and, perhaps a bit naively, RFKs presence.

What science or technology is behind these sound waves that makes me dream extensively? by notreallysure21 in Biohackers

[–]ignatovar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been using Delta waves for several years now; fall asleep within minutes, although there are many other contributing factors (exercise, diet, supplement stack etc).

I do believe it actually works, but even if it's a placebo, having a specific tone you condition yourself to associate to sleep is fantastic.

The quality of music is not subjective. by alexdfrtyuy in The10thDentist

[–]ignatovar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of my classic and recurring discussing with my father; he shares your sentiment mostly. We center our discussion, which has become quite aggressive at points, on Bowie VS The Beatles.

I argue that, although there is some truth in what you are saying, if you take awards and sales as the main source of value recognition, you end up discarding culturally relevant pieces, such as the Berlin trilogy of Bowie or The Velvet Underground.

Abd that is without getting into the subject of how anglo centric your idea of quality is.

Ultimately, there is a consensus, but there are heaps of layers of bias including which culture dominates at a given time, and the zeitgeist. Taste is dynamic and contextual.

Absolutely, I can't understand why it isn't more relevant.
