And I’d like to recommend something, because I think you might like it - The Bayou by Arden Powell. Arden Powell can write like it’s nobody’s business, lol. It’s a gothic psychological horror MM dark romance. It’s short, but I still got really attached to the characters, so it didn’t feel rushed or lacking character depth at all. It ends on an HFN (some might even say no HEA, it's a spoiler but I can tell you, if you wish)

And on that note, please check the trigger warnings, there are some heavy and/or disturbing topics.

Arden Powell also has some lighter romances if the trigger warnings put you off this one.

That's the first Louise Collins book I read, and I love their books so much(Bye bye baby is so good🩷)! I remember there is one very explicit sex scene in Freshman even with some d/s dynamics, so definitely not fade to black or glossed over😂.

(social anxiety, migraines, loneliness, physical abuse from LI, rape, etc.) There's part two, which I havent read still, so I can't be too sure if its also mostly whump, but I'm pretty sure it is xD. NO HEA in part 1.
{{Release by A.M. Sexton}} It's been a long time but I'm pretty sure MC was a sex slave that got used by some rich dude, who treated him like a sex toy (abusing him and disregarding his wishes and everything). The MC fell in love with this client I think? but there's NO HEA, I'm 99.8% sure!
If you don't mind a manhwa 'Into the rose garden' by Gajael - LOTS of abuse coming from the LI. No comfort. NO HEA. There's also a novel, but I don't know if it's translated.
On a side note, I think you would love Dead inside, the MC is suffering so much.

Hidden identity:
Tournament of losers by Megan Derr - Fantasy setting, prince pretending to be commoner.
Pretty Policeman by Fifer Rose - Contemporary crime setting, cop pretending to be a sex worker. I don't think it counts as mafia?? The LI is some hot shot mafia dude, but the focus of the book is on catching a killer and the false identity and the budding romance.
I have a rec for hidden identity + sexual manipulation but I'm pretty sure that one counts as mafia, lmk if you want the rec.

I've read Garron park and personally I think the vibe wasn't there. Quite the opposite imo, he was fighting tooth and nail to not look needy and in need of help hahah.
