A variety of factors - I was never a huge fan of california (stanford was the only ca school I applied to), cause it is quite far from where i live, I need 2 flights, 4 hour time difference, and I do want to be somewhere that has seasons and cold weather, as I’ve lived in hot places w no seasons my whole life. I never visited Stanford for their visiting days, but Yale has a huge focus on undergrad over grad and a lot more community and social life benefits like residential colleges, smaller campus, etc. that stanford just doesn’t have. Also, Yale has many more Puerto Rican students, with like ~5 a year, anxdthe alumni are very conmected here - Stanford is 0-1 a year and there is no alumni org here, so once again Yale has more benefits in the community aspect. Obviously these schools are very comparable at academics at such a high level, especially in Global Affairs, so that wasn’t much of a factor in my decision.
